This is to me an arch-Indie. When I first tried it, it wasn't Maj'Eyal but another M.E, you can maybe guess which :) He changed that for copyright reasons, as well as wanting to take the story his own ways I suppose.
This is Darkgod's magnum opus. He has stuck to it for at least 15 years, rewritten it from scratch four times, always expanding, always improving. It's incorporated new ideas all the time, drawing inspiration from everything from DCSS to World of Warcraft. Like Dwarf Fortress, it's a game that simply has to be admired.
