The mentioned mod is built on resources which can be found in the internet (models for Skyrim mods, original LotR games etc -> actually the Elves are from Enpremi who also created our Dale faction). We create everything on our own so that the content fits perfectly into the game (correct texture behavior, right polycount etc etc). So, being able to port existing models into Total War: Attila just doesn't align with our requirements.
As long as we're able to make progress in any way we won't stop to work on this project. The main problem is just that we need to spend our free-time on it (which is very rare for most team members at the time) and that we can't work with fixed schedules.
Thank you for your kind words!
It slowed down a bit due to university exam periods or other reallife stuff. Mainly we're working on concept art for the new factions now, as well as concept arts to improve existing units based on the feedback given for the Alpha release.
There's also progress on animations (not only trolls ;)) but it's not quite ready to be previewed at the current state.
And of course, the database and lore team is constantly working on improving the balancing system and fleshing out the rosters and units.
Myself I'm currently working on shader support for the Substance application package. That will allow us to directly test textures in the development environment without having to integrate the assets directly into the game all the time. Creating realistic textures for the WarScape engine is a blackbox unfortunately but the custom shader package will allow is to work much more efficiently.
Omg, please stop interpreting so much in every single sentence which we write here. You don't know the team, you don't know the members, and to claim that we do it to be something "special" as you called it is just a lie.
Constructive critisism is very helpful for us. That's why we create pre-release versions for established community members, to showcase what we've done and to collect info about what we can do better.
However, for people who work on the project with unbreakable dedication (I founded this damn project back in 2014 and am proud of every single step we made so far) it's offending to read that people think that we are arrogant people stealing content from other mods (which is not the case!). At least I don't see why people might think this way about us.
That copyrights don't apply to mods isn't correct. Creating copyrighted content for free mods is more a grey zone than a legal activity.
If you want to know more about this topic, open this page: Moddb.com and have a look what happened to them.
And what? I wished that you said such things to every mod project. Maybe the world would be much better without mods so people can purely enjoy the crap they often get from the big game companies (because indie developers won't survive without mods, just have a look at M&B, in conclusion only the big/money-grubbing companies would be left).
Hmmm, for some reasons I get to think that I may be a part of the category you described... ^^
Well, I think you're right in some ways. All RoM team members love the LotR universe and our goal is to recreate it with as much detail as possible.
Thank you very much for your kind words. :D
Yeah of course, trolls are already in work and the results are promising. :D
Yes, there is, but the Mûmakil aren't ready yet to be previewed. :)
It's not ready yet unfortunately.
The main problem is that we have only very few really reliable character artists (all voluntary). However, there're going on many things behind the scenes and the shield represents in no way our progress, it's just a teaser. :D
Havn't read such a post before. Thanks for this one. :D
It will be closed access only (youtubers will get access to promote the mod and its progress and the staff will use it for internal testing). We'll probably give some chosen community members access to the mod as well to test our first version of a balancing system and to inspect the Model for bugs and other problems.
You see, the Alpha version will be far always from a stable build, that's why we've decided to restrict it to closed access. However, the Alpha will contain at least about ten times more content than our first Pre-Alpha test build. We're working hard to push everything forward but it'll still take a while until we've reached the Alpha milestone.
Unfortunately not the neccessary ones to change Europe to Middle-earth.
It won't affect the Radious mod files itself but there might occur compatibility issues if you're going to load both at the same time.
TW: Warhammer uses different file formats in comparison to Attila. In addition there're no tools available for importing/exporting Warhammer models.
Therefore it's nearly impossible to take something from Warhammer to implement it in Attila.
You won't need any DLCs to be able to run this mod. Thanks for your kind words. :)
Okay, maybe I read your comment from a wrong point of view. Sorry for that.
But this clarified your intention, though there were some mistakes in numbers as I mentioned above. :)
Wtf?
First of all, thanks for trying to clarify that we can't answer the release question yet and that we don't move to Total War: Warhammer.
To all the other things: I hate that people make judgements about our progress or development speed without any in-depth knowledge of it. You tell people to open their eyes, but you should do this als well. Having a look at the Pre-Alpha previews from January you can clearly see that we don't have only five units. For the Alpha release there're planned around 80 units, all completely custom and unique!
To creatures: sorry, but we aren't allmighty. We work on it and if we failed we would have realised all other plans which are possible to realise either way. If you'll like it or not is your own choice. However, I don't think that you have to exaggerate at this point. It doesn't help anything nor does it encourage us.
All in all, you can't judge our internal team activity and what you say about it is wrong. If you are able to provide us skilled individuals who work harder for this free project than for any paid project then let us know! In that case we might be able to deliver the mod in a few months.
But open your eyes dude, the world is harsh and such case is simply not possible to realise.
This question is hard to answer right now. Our decision will depend on many factors which we must examine. However, we need more info to do so.
No, at least no bigger parts. Things like startpositions are possible to edit.
I think posting it one time is enough, isn't it? You got your answer in the main comment section so I'm not going to go into detail on it here.
Guys, it has been a week since the last faction preview! We need some time. :D
With a bit of luck you'll already see the descriptions today. :D
You should be careful, maybe you'll need it already now. And let's change "semi" to "full". ^^
Yes, but "only" a little teaser. Our writing and lore team is working hard to fully flesh out the Gondorian roster similar to the elves and Dale. And we need the details of this faction for ourselves as well because it's included into our short-term plans.
