It's technically impossible to prohibit such thing because that's how base game works. But our campaign will be designed to apply heavy penalties if you wanna go against normal flow of things and switch sides.

There is no such faction as Angmar during the War of the Ring. Adding Angmar makes as little sense as adding Numenor.

Congratulations to the winners but I also would like to address my concerns regarding the awarding system to ModDB staff.

1. Best upcoming mod category was won by an indie game. I did read the comments on it, however it's pretty clear to everyone that BFME: Reforged is a standalone game, based on Unreal Engine 4. Now, let's be perfectly honest here, a mod is a game MODification, its as simple as it gets. Unreal Engine 4 is not a game. It's the engine, designed to create new games. There was a point made by the ModDB staff that the work Reforged team does is equal to what modders do, however I disagree with this point because if you open their website you'll see that they take patreon donations and as it seems, it's used to fund some of their team members, if not all of them.

2. Why is it okay that at least 2 out of 10 Player's Choice winners are mods that had their first release on dates that were past Dec 1st? Let me remind y'all that voting for best mod of the year started on Dec 1st. Why is it okay to run for the best mod after that date?

3. I understand that a mod is ineligible to be awarded and only gets an honourable mention if it's ranked lower this year than the year before. Now, I don't agree with this approach but that's not my point.
How do you decide a mod is eligible or not, based on it's ranking? To be more precise, how exactly do you determine ranking? Do you simply rank all mods and make a mod ineligible based on it's ranking before filtering?
For example, there could be a mod that was ranked 9th last year in unfiltered ranking and this year it was ranked 10th. It makes this mod ineligible BUT if the list has 2 or more mods that were also ranked lower than the last year and are higher in the ranking than 10th mod, then technically the mod that's 10th in unfiltered ranking becomes 8th (or higher) in filtered ranking, which is higher than the past year. So how exactly is mod's ranking determined after filtering out ineligible mods?

4. Also, shouldn't consistency matter? It's a small point of mine but I think it makes a difference if mod released one major update towards the end of a year vs a mod that was releasing major updates each next month.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against either of the winners, I don't demand any changes to the results but I want to publicly show that I don't agree with the way it's calculated and I don't take seriously such awarding system that has the problems described above.

I understand that the idea was probably so that new mods have a bigger chance to win the awards when it comes to a competiotion between new mods against older mods with established communities but if this was indeed the goal, simply split the award on 1) best mod of the year, and 2) best NEW mod of the year.

I've been back to help the mod and now I'm finishing the campaign map tool. I've been active the entire year :P
I'll switch back to being inactive as soon as campaign release gets closer
