I thought this mod was for Crysis, not Far Cry.

Oblivion's NPCs seemed a bit stupid, so this actually doesn't seem like a bad idea.

As much as I would like to see stupid comments buried, I have to agree with you. Of all the comment rating systems I've seen on the Internet, the common factor between all of them is that the system will often be abused. Enough to offset the potential good it could have brought.

For example, a YouTube video about Barack Obama will naturally have visitors who are fans of the senator, and will down-vote anyone that says anything negative (be it rationally or not) about his stance on certain issues. Likewise with mods, the pages will be visited by its fans and any comment that says anything less than complimentary about it will be buried.

I do believe that a comment rating system is an excellent idea, it's just that because this is the Internet, it's guaranteed that the same idiots making these horribly stupid comments are in turn going and rating comments that they don't like, and due to their, well, stupidity, their intention behind burying that comment that just doesn't agree with them is not "This will improve the site by disallowing other visitors from seeing this garbage.", but "I hate this guy! I'm going to bury his comment so he knows how much he sucks!".

What would be a better replacement is to go back to the version of YouTube just before their integration of comment ratings: Reporting posts, and marking posts as spam. Instead of the viewers deciding on whether comments should go, the moderators decide instead.

That's just my two cents on it.

360, DS news, horrible new style, comment ratings (never lead to anything good thanks to the users downgrading comments that don't agree with their points of view), hard to navigate, they've removed features that were very useful (if they haven't, I'll be damned if I'll ever find them), and all in favor of a flashy new page style.

I think most people will agree with me when I say that I don't care about PS3 or Wii news, I don't care for the new site style, and I sure as hell want my mod news on the front page, because that's what ModDB used to be all about; the mods. I wouldn't be surprised if ModDB were to be bought out by CNET, or G4 soon.

The worst part of it is there really isn't anywhere else to go, so those of us who want the mod news will keep coming here, which will give the site owners the wrong impression that this new layout is actually a good thing. If things continue this way, I have very low expectations for the next version of the site.

I really hope I'm going overboard about this, but considering that every other respectable site on the Internet seems to be doing this now, I don't think that I am.

Bid For Power used to be brilliant, but now it's become terribly unbalanced trash. I'll admit that it is fun to play as all the different characters from the show, but it's impossible to have a fair competitive game between friends, or strangers, when there are a few that have attacks that absolutely dwarf the other hundred-plus fighters.

That and it's apparently stolen. Get the older version of Bid For Power (before Bandai shut down the DBZ version), you'll be in for a treat.
