Manhunter

Game review

Although this felt a bit of a waste of time, i'l do my best to give a reasonable review instead of just a random number.

First thing to note i played the game through in full. (Not sure if its a plus or a minus, regarding the review.)But atleast i finished the game.

Well Manhunter is basically a corridor-shooter, with little to no freedom of movement. It's so on-rails that there was a part early on in the game that forced me to backtrack a few steps because the VO didn't appear in time. Well thats my terrible start, lets get on with it.

GRAPHICS:

Terrible, bloody terrible. Dull colours, overrall bleached scheme. The only nice thing that i found was the glass in the tower level, but thats not saying much.

SOUNDS, MUSIC, VO:

Guns sound anemic, Music is repetative to a point of annoyance, Voice work is decent, about as much effort was given from the actors as expected.

GAMEPLAY:

Bullet-sponges.. Thats it, nothing more. The most effective kill is a headshot and the AI is stupid enough to stand in line for the shots. And on multiple times, i found that the AI managed to get a perfect shots with an Mp a long distance away, whereas i had to use almost a whole clip from an AK. Don't even let me get started on the hud, the aim cursor is useless and the guns spread so much that you are forced to use iron sights most of the time. The "feature list" said Bullet physics. Its in there, but only to serve as an annoyance.

Oh, and as a minor gripe; The Cosmodrome level, trying to climb the ladder when theres even one soldier alive, they will keep shooting you down the ladder. So after the 12th attempt i managed to climb the ladder without the soldiers knocking me off all the time.

The previous is not a spoiler, its a written PATCH.

Project Zomboid

Early access game review

(This is my first time im about to write a review of a game, so do go easy on me.)

Project Zomboid...

The first time i heard of it was on a Finnish gaming magazine PELAAJA, and i looked at the small pixelated pictures and thought. "huh, this gives out some X-Com vibes. Wonder what its about?" So i red the small indie-games article the game was shown on, and i must admit. At the firts time i read it i passed it out as a similiar f**k-up as Dead Island, but after watching a fair number of videos on Youtube, i decided to give it a try. And boy! Is this good.

The feeling of survival is there, completely with all the variables. The pressing feeling that if you dont have a safe place to spend the night, you might wake up with a zombie eating half of your leg off. All of the things that many "Survival" games have promised is in this neato package.

BUT, there are some points of criticism i need to hand out. I know this game is in Alpha, so im not going too hard on the graphical and some glitch issues. The UI of the game is handy but a bit clunky at places, inventory is missing the "Drop item" option which could be usefull in a tricky spot to drop some of the heavier equipment when being chased by a horde of zombies. Health indicator is usefull, but can be sometimes annoying, since it doesnt say what sort of procedure you should do to heal a certain part of your body. The status indicators on the side when something needs to be done is very usefull, but sometimes it can get a bit obnoxious. they constantly vibrate when your status either improves or worsens, being sometimes very distracting. In sandbox-mode, when i started it gave me character traits. With choosable career options, sounded totally reasonable and i really liked the balancing of the pros & cons. But if you want to have a character who has multiple traits to improve his physical prowess, you will most likely need to make him a psychotic degenerate.

It doenst really make the 10/10 mark, but it will late
