It's just as you said. The pre-alpha version was never meant to be developed further, but for the growing community, we decided to make some smaller updates for it, thus reducing work hours on the real game by a lot. That is the reason we are not making any more updates for it since spring and are only focusing on the alpha development. This doesn't even share a tiny bit of code with the pre-alpha, as we are aiming for an MMO with a lot of players and features. I still can't give you an estimation, but we are progressing with it.
Also, don't forget, Xatoku might have been the only programmer, but he wasn't alone with the project. A lot of people contributed and worked on the different aspects of the game.

Was a fan of Pokémon Generations, sadly it is no more. Now I am in a team for a new Pokémon 3D game, Planet Pokémon. Using Linux for years now.
