Exploring horror and it's evolution in games.

ThePaddedRoom Blog
  1. qell for sometime now I have explored horror games, movies, books and also spoken to psychologists that specialise in fear and anxiety as well as paranoia.

You may know I'm creating my own horror game and with so much out there it became apparent people have various tastes in horror in games. I want to implement the concepts and knowledge I have found into my game.

the uncanny valley concept is often applied but all too early in most games but some do it quite well. FNaF series is probably the best at this as well as implementing a basic game mechanic. Outlast made you aware of the threat at the beginning but you had to workout survival.

ao far injavw found the most fear environment tactic is to witness actions of the unknown predator.

I don't want to give too much away but I think I have a good recipe for creating a fearful experience but creating the right mechanic is important for gameplay.

Now trying to create a community that will convey opinions and preference on gameplay but also support the development. Generally aimed at horror fans and fans of survival gameplay looking for a thrill I will continue to post media and more to keep you updated.

thanks for reading! Please here for the reveal trailer of one of the entities in the upcoming project The Padded Room.

Trailer -reveal of the Doctor

ThePaddedRoom Blog

good Morning all!

I thought I would begin my first blog on here to quickly convey the newest trailer for our project The Padde Room. M.youtube.com

The concept revolves around supernatural entities buried in folklore that kidnap you whilst you sleep and take you to The Padded Room. While there is a history to the Entities known as the Shrouded Ones its will be unknown.

Where is the Padded Room located? Part of the Game is to realise this.

the pechamics will be kept simple focusing on the tone and experience implementing knowledge of fear and anxiety we have gained form talking to psychologist at Newcastle University that specialise in the area of fear.

Currently as for many developers the hardest part is creating a community or following for the game to get an idea what players would like to see more of. We're on several social media sites and YouTube with content ready to share.

If anyone would like contribute on development please feel free and keep following us for more updates on development.

Thanks for reading.

beat wishes,

The Padded Room
