had an idea on autoturret functionality, thought id let you guys hear it:

how about an intelligent system, where the turrets will focus on the targeted spacecraft wherever possible, but will instead target any other hostile craft if they cannot target the designated craft, so you won't have any idling turrets trying to point at a target they can never hit, especially if the designated target is a capital ship that you're flanking, and the turrets on your offside will never see it, but could target incoming bombers sneaking on your flank if they entered the turrets effective range (not absolute range mind you, we don't want them wasting precious energy taking sniper shots at dodging fighters)

caps drop loot up to about 150k i think, just tractor the loot [B] and sell it at any station to get the cash, just stick close to the NPC caps, or you'll get destroyed

with the DP37, you can grind fighters ok 9not as ghood as teh DP20 though), just make sure to turn off the heavy cannons, as they only waste energy
heavier capital ships can go and engage NPC caps in teh capital prototype system, but you really need a focused frigate or destroyer

it was actualy one of my only sucessful salvos though, those missiles are hard to get on-target in the middle of a fight

what a nice mod! i spent a few hours cruising in my B-Wing, sub-lighting behind TIE fighters and blowing them to bits before they new what hit them!
only two issue so far:
my poor computer can't handle the defferred rendering, i have to do without
the IN NPCs stopped spawning at one point, and we had to resort to just PVP (which drops way less loot), could there be an error in the NPC spawning code?

and finally, where is the official site/forum for this mod? i seem to have lost my bookmark :D

perhaps youd best put a note somewhere in the download link? so that we can reset our installations in the 3/4 hours it downloads for (espeically if you have slow internet like me :( )

ive recently been playing around with some other mods, and ive had a slight worry:

will you balance out the profits from combat with the profits from trading/mining? because discovery has very little in the way or making money through combat, and Crossfire doesnt have much of a trading system going on (there are some daft trade routes in there)

hopefully thats become part of the beta, though i get the impression that this will be focused on the combat side of things ;)

than answers 1 & 3, but ive already 1/3 downloaded it anyway, then i can see for myself if i prefer SP or MP.

and reading some stuff here answered #2 for me, leaving just #4. how well do you think ill cope? i usually struggle with graphics on this machine

wow, ive not checked this mod for a few months, and this is looking like payware quality (if only Microsoft would allow it, youd be loaded)

my biggest attraction for an FL mod were capships intergrated into the gameplay, and it looks like youve got that cracked!

just a few questions whilst it downloads:
1)is there a torrent for this? it would probably be faster since im using chrome and it has a tendancy to cut off my downloads if i leave it alone
2)can you target hardpoints on enemy capships, to cripple them into surrender? that was always a "tactical turn on" for me, forcing an enemy into submission with a well aimed torpedo
3) is this mainly Single or multiplayer? i guess its a SP but theres alot of talk about multiplayer floating around here
4)how will a dual core AMD 3.2GHz and ATI radeon 3000 cope with these graphics? is it OK or are you holding back hysterics at my piece of junk i call a PC?

so the need to actually BUILD the capship defines the absolute difference between the normal chips and the capships? at least nobody can complain that they didnt know:P

how does the capship building work? i dont think its possible to load al the resources into one craft, so i presume there is a "resource bank" to put them in?

also, is there a time delay between resource delivery and getting at the helm of the ship? i think a day or so is adequate time for crazed robots to throw an ISD together :D

OMG, this is looking like an amazing game (note: i didnt say Mod)

i wouldnt be suprised if Microsoft came asking for the code for their own uses, or any other software company, because you guys have worked magic here.

is there actually ANY game system left untouched? all i can suggest is that the server story is kept well-paced, and updated regularly (not in huge blocks) through the ingame news system, you know: keep players up to date with factions' control over certain systems

one last thing: will it be painfully clear which craft are defined as "Capships"? because some people would dispute corvettes and medium freighters following some of the capship rules like vessel loss

awesome, is there a way to put crashing into it as well? as in if a fighter collides with a cap ship it should just blow up, not bounce off. and then two caps colliding will be raw carnage.

it is possible to make a weapon that can only fire forwards, it was done in the discovery mod (notice the main gun on the lib siege cruiser)

and im sure these guys will have done that for this (or SEVERELY limited the firing range (where you can aim) on appropriate weapons)
