Pillar of Autumn had upgraded cooling system and capacitors so it could fire two "weak" MACs or one GIANT MAC round, tho in the game it was disabled it could tear through covenant shield.

Pillar of Autumn was also equipped with extra extra plating with some extra plating on it so it would be able to resist light attacks from a assault cruiser or heavy fire from a Carrier.

you sir are wrong, the Marathon didnt have 2 macs, but it did have a new kind of cooling system making it able to fire 2 big shots in a row or 4 smaller ones in a row.
