Actually yes it would. Assuming that it isn't rotten it makes a perect improvised weapon, plus beng of the maintanence trade he has the access to the tools to then add a sharpend end to it, or to even add a tool to it to form a spear of sorts. But as I said in another post, having been in martial arts for over 10 years now and having been on the recieving end of and also having made weapons en mass, on the cheap from broom and mop handles and having them outlast actual pricy shop bought weapons, they can infact be vey sturdy indeed.

Also seing as hes basically clean up and maintanence crew he has to have basic knowledge in chemical containment training and practices, and thus know what not to mix together so can thus use that for improvised explosives, hard to implement, unless you model the ammo pickup as small bottles or containers, stored sparsely throught lcokers and in storage boxes/rooms.

Coming for a background in martial arts and martial arts weapon making I can tell you that Mop and Broom handles can actually be very sturdy indeed, and are the most sensible choice for an "improvised weapon", which in reality a janitor would mostly be left with as his first use, his toosl and anythign he could improvise. I once converted a broom into a small night stick sized staff, and it lasted and tok more abuse than a friend who acutually went out and bought one from a specialsied shop.

Also being a janitor in a facility involving toxic and dangerous chemicals im assuming he would have had some training in relation to containment, contamination and disposal proceedures for said chemicals.

t depends on the kind and make of Screwdriver but You'd be surprised how easily some of them are to sue for throwing, but its fairly unlikely that a Janitor would be trainign in the specific martial arts inspired ways to throw a screwdriver as if it was a neelde, or knife, dart or shuriken. Plus they are more ahdny as a hand to ahdn weapon, adds power and impact to a puch and is fairly good for stabbing with.
