Things that help: Shadows, Higher Res Textures, Less washed out greens, and abiotic small-scale scenery.
This is obviously a graphics shot, and those are the graphics that are missing.
But seriously, no shadows? What is this, 1998?

I like the hook lots. I imagine it would be difficult to reload.
It's very...blocky, but a solid design nevertheless. Although the designs weren't terribly detailed. I think some more thought and consideration into why you are adding this weapon and what purpose it serves should be made before texturing starts. I mean, this is a mech, right? I don't know how big they are, but this gun seems to have no clip(or loading bay for a f#@$ huge mech, nor does it seem to have a particularly slip-proof trigger.
Add some life to these things! Give the gun a personality or nobody will notice it (and your hard work).
This looks like a scale model. Reminds me of those Christmas specials that terrified me as a child with the yeti and toys.
I agree with ::idiot::
Perhaps using white to grey and breaking the bones would be better?
Those tunnels are destined for secret ninja ambushes.
Wow, looks like someone actually knows how to string a bow here!
That pic looks really nice for the source engine. Impressive!
all you need is some curry-infused tea
that really puts a jolt in your system
and a few dekagrams of pure wasabi
Ooh... Hammy-Bob Mod, the bar from which all craziness is measured
wow, a really awesome an original look to coax out of the ut2k4 engine!
I loved the trailer, very nice video editing.
My biggest issue is that it has been compressed to death and the framerate is very low.
Could you have a torrent of a nicer, cleaner version?
Maybe I'll just wait for the game :p
Good for you!
It certainly helps a lot of people to open things up, and given how small the mod community is, more projects should be open-sourced, if only to stop people from re-inventing the wheel.
Excellent work team dystopia!
Here's hoping that the Version 1 release will be as fun of an experience as the Beta 1 release was!
Awesome pics, looks like everything is coming together really well.
I'm hoping a beta arrives soon!
Sounds like your GF really screwed some things over for you, good luck with that.
The pictures themsleves look pretty much fantastic, though.
Eagerly anticiapting a download!
@Silent_Killer01, will-lee: There are a huge number of issues when you consider letting the video card manufacturers add this functionality on to their cards rather than having a dedicated card.
1. Tests have shown that pushing the physics calculations onto the GPU isn't much faster than pure CPU
2. We want video card manufacturers to focuse on the video aspect, not anything else.
3. Sending a ton of physics data back and forth over the same bus that grahpics is using will only bring us closer to the cieling on PCI-X faster.
@BrotherLaz: An AI processor isn't terribly useful because AI code is hardly specialized and includes a lot of general-purpose instructions, which makes it perfect for multi-core, but not so much for dedicated. Physics code works especially well because a processor can be designed to do very specific calculations.
The dedicated physics processors will eventually benefit all games, methinks, but will be optional and not required.
Sort of like a sound card, methinks.
This will become especially true with the UE3 because of native support for the processors.
I'm more curious as to if we'll be able to get some of those cards that can do ray-traced images in almost realtime.
He looks like trboule
concept art like this really makes good mods great ones.
that's a nice sniper rifle, right there
S&I probably ranks as top HL1 mod for originality in my opinion.
Updating it for an engine with near-perpetual support is a good thing!
Admin verification is SLOW SLOW SLOW
Still a problem.....
Can't download.
Anybody over there have any clue on how to even attempt ambient lighting?
Not bashing on you guys, but an open-source engine with even primitive, pre-rendered ambient lighting would go a long way in making it look better.
Better for the mod community too, to have a free tool like that at their hands.
That is a totally insane amount of detail.
I'm hoping that UT2k7 overtakes source as the modding platform of choice.
Can't wait for playtest V4!
Is this going to have only one, small map, or can we look forward to back and forth control battles ala UT2k4 Onslaught mode?
that would be cool
Gun barrel heating up looks real nice, looking forward to seeing it in action at some time in the future.
novadex into the engine, eh?
could we have the option of oogly-awesome random effects, courtesy of Physx cards?
pretty please?
Once you are able to get the motion-capture point working, please get some videos of it in-game.
That will be sure to pump somebody up.
