At least the model's actually being used for something now.
At least the model's actually being used for something now.
We're back in action (sorta), and working on getting enough material for an update. With luck, we hope to have a working public alpha some time this year.
We're like the Duke Nukem Forever of C&C Generals mods aren't we =P
Just watching this put a stupidly huge grin on my face. Just..... holy crap.
OK, I'm trying to start this mod back up again. Only problem is that the original team has drifted apart over time..... I'll do my very best to get everyone back, or at least to make sure the models I've shown you will go in, but I still need more people.
So if you're a modeller, preferably with experience making models for Generals/ZH, who's interested in working for ZHU, and you think you can deliver the high quality exhibited in the current public models, please go to the offsite forums (http://www.mystiquestudios.com/forum/index.php?board=63.0) and drop me (Strategia in Ultima) a PM with an example of your work.
And yes, this is an act of desperation D:
That's the Orca Fighter, not the Orca Bomber.
Superweapon on the airfield. =P
"And here we see the GDI War Factory giving birth to its young, a healthy Mammoth MkII. The birth is laborious, but both mother and child seem to be in good condition."
*sigh* Guess the time has come. School, blah blah blah, real life, blah blah, team drifting apart, blah. Long story short, ZHU is pretty much dead. May it rest in peace.
I've had several requests for this model from other mods. If I ever get a hold of SharpShark, there's a good chance you'll see this baby in action in the (relatively) near future.
This was actually a surprise sprung by IPS, I was planning on including a plane from Crimson Skies (the Kestrel) that's based on the P-38 (or at least, looks somewhat like it), and he turned it into this hybrid P-38/Kestrel/completely new design. IMO it looks better than both of the other planes.
Besides, it has four 30mm autocannons. It doesn't need .50cals :P (And there are coding limitations, but that's another matter entirely.)
Still in hibernation, but activity seems to be picking up. Hopefully.
It's in hibernation right now =( I don't consider it dead yet though.
Just an FYI, this unit has been scrapped too. Granger will get an entirely redesigned line-up, and let's just say that the F-15 is just ONE of the units "replacing" the uninspired King Raptor.
Scratch that, we've got a whole new line-up and unfortunately there's no room left for this vehicle. Do with it what you want.
If I told you, I'd have to kill you. :P
Let's just say it probably won't appear any time soon. However, another mod took an interest in the model and they have it now. But unfortunately, that mod appears to have gone to the Eternal Coding Grounds.
It's a modular vehicle, like ShW's Exo Suit, but really both the Exo Suit and the Westmoreland use code adapted from the GLA Combat Cycle.
It only carries one infantryman, and its weapons can be compared to those of the infantryman inside it, only more so. Marine riflemen with M16s get access to machine guns, SAW Gunners get miniguns, SMAW Defenders get anti-tank missile racks, and so on. It's an infantry fighting vehicle not in the sense of the Bradley, but more in the sense of the BRDM-2, supporting the infantry by providing mobile vehicle fire support instead of providing mobile vehicle fire support AND transporting them to the front.
As it's currently planned (but this might change in beta testing), the Eisenhower will have a more powerful main weapon than the Overlord, but less armour. Also, the Overlord gets upgrades in the form of the Nuclear Engine and Nuclear Shells, improving its speed to more than that of this tank (which would otherwise be the same) and increasing its weapon power to above that of the Eisenhower as well. Plus, adding a Battle Bunker full of Tank Hunters makes it even more deadly against tanks and vehicles.
But the Eisenhower's role in the late game, when everyone can field their entire arsenal, is different from that of the Overlord. The Overlord is intended as a behemoth, taking and dealing immense amounts of damage, capable of fighting a battle on its own. The Eisenhower is intended to support Alexander's combined-arms warfare, soaking up damage from the front lines, taking out lesser tanks with its heavy guns and using its secondary weapons to mow down infantry, allowing more vulnerable units to dish out damage to everyone.
ZHU is currently in hibernation, it's not dead, the team is still together, but no work is currently being done.
I say again - the current release is OLD, and contains NO NEW UNITS.
Maybe, eventually.
This is a very old version. It contains no new units.
1.) Make sure you have a clean install of ZH (clean = no mods, how the game installs out of the box + patches).
2.) Place the .big file in the main ZH folder (e.g., \Games\Zero Hour\, not \Games\Zero Hour\Data, for instance).
3.) Launch the game, and the mod should work. (Note however that you will not be able to use most of the units shown in the updates, but you'll be able to get a feel for the new damage system.)
4.) Enjoy. Or not.
5a.) If you like it, play some more and maybe leave a comment or two here or on the forums.
5b.) If you hate it, delete the .big file, curse our names into infinity and ritually sacrifice some small animal or annoying sibling to win the favour of the Gods and prevent us from going any further. Or not. (On second thought, don't sacrifice a poor, innocent small animal, they've done nothing wrong. You may still use a sibling if you like, but we won't take responsibility for the consequences if you do.)
Our next release will be a full reboot, so it won't be 1.6, rather something even before 1.0. It's also not slated to happen any time in the near future (next few months or so), as there's still heaps of work to be done.
What do you mean about the damage file? The basic idea will still remain, and many values will be left unchanged. Riflemen ARE useless against tanks, and so are pretty much all small arms - however, many riflemen get special abilities (such as the Ranger's HE grenade) that allow them to engage vehicles. But to actually take on tanks, you'll still need specialised troops.
The names were actually planned for Zero Hour, with Leang finally serving as boss general in the Genchallenge, ShW merely revived them and gave them new arsenals while leaving the vanilla sides nameless. We took those names and gave them to the vanilla sides so they're not so bland anymore. It's a small issue, and it's not like we're ripping off ShW, so it's not important, just flavour.
The Vortex? AFAIK, it's been around since before SoaSE came out. Not entirely sure though, and I haven't played SoaSE.
That's what I said. The version on the site is old. It's basically vZH with our damage system, and I'm not too sure about the damage system.
It's gonna be a while before we release a playable version with what we're showing in the updates. Be patient.
OK guys, first off, sorry to disappoint you but none of the recently shown models are in the uploaded version. I took over when the previous leader lost everything in a HD crash and quit, so we're basically starting from scratch, and the public version is from before this happened. Currently, it mainly shows how the damage system would work (roughly).
To activate the .big file, just place it inside the Zero Hour folder and start the game. Since we're still in dev phase, I don't check here often, so if you need more help go to our forums through the link on the right.
No, we will not add the Abrams, nor the Bradley, Apache, Blackhawk et al.
A bit, not really. It looks somewhat like the Abrams as well. This is a South Korean design.
