I think the author might need to do some modifications before Steam release, like when you out of ammo, make the game switch to next best weapon, or when you go back to previous weapon (last used item), if this one is empty, you can deploy it while you can not via the inventory listing. I also think some models about characters & weapons could be changed to be better.
However, I am on chapter #3, I love to play it! Fresh game long time no see!

From that I recall it is, search for XP tool set (maybe like "v140_xp" in project settings, enable them), something like. Or maybe you could compile by using a slightly older version, this will not hurt, and you will probably do not loose any advantage actually provided.
And if at worse you have another old game you did, to compile with it and make me test, I will be glad to check & tell you if it works fine under XP!

Ah yeah, I see that you mean, yeah engine will not help, I though you were refering about "lags & cie" (low FPS).
Yeah the game has slow code of weapons switch then bugs when out of ammo etc. (no "GetNextBestWeapon" called when out of ammo, etc.), the first is probably for realism, because this is not normal you can switch weapon on a fly in a half-second, in real you can not really properly holster your current weapon then deploy a new one so quickly than under Half-Life!
For me it is realistic this way, but I understand this can be annoying if you do not like or are get use to "fast switch" in-game!

As I said someone else before, HL Violet Shift! Hahaha that Violet suit is kind of... special!

From that I recall, to make it compatible, you can enable "XP toolset" in options, something like. Please do! Do not make me cry! Hehe!
Because I will not install 7 just for a game (I did not for all the other I would like to so...), and do not play on my netbook having it which is weak and unpleasant!

To "PMDLEADERSHINX": I personnaly recommend to install Xash3D (the standard one by Uncle Mike, build #4344 or higher), like from there (https://www.moddb.com/engines/xash3d-engine/news/xash3d-oktoberfest-2018), and install all your game mods inside, it is a way better than using old bugged & limited WON official HL client.
And you will have similar interface when launching it.
Then you can even create .bat or .exe shortcut in your folder, then add as target something like (you can remove the "-dev" parameter to avoid printing dev warnings in the top-left while playing):
"F:\Xash3D #4344\hl.exe" -game delta_mod -console -log -dev
Rather than launching HL, then search & activate the mod in the section "Custom game".

I install & play all of the singleplayer mods on it.

However, to XF-Alien, I started playing it (I am still a bit after the area where we found the yellow crowbar), I like it very well, nice work, this is the kind of SP games I like to play, besides new weapons is something I like to discover too in new SP games, we just missing English voices despite some Russian words/sentences are funny to hear, but at least we have the sentences written in English for the HUDs!
But maybe try implementing more HD models for characters could have been an asset to make it look even better!

Yeah, after the guard used his eyes to enable it, the door will not open, but it does when the guard moved toward the door after opening it.
Try to make move the security guard toward it, it should open.

Well, I did not pay attention to that "CRISPY" mode. And I did not even know that "CRISPY" means as I am French and I do not know all English vocabulary (despite I can try to click on it to see that happens or, Google Translate it).
But the fact is, Xash3D games usually have interface like the old WON one I know and on the old WON one I had ability to switch between software, D3D & OpenGL, while here on "Video modes" I have none of those. And I recall under WON video options were just for gamma things & cie, not for software/D3D/OpenGL switch.
That's why I recommend to set up by default OpenGL ON in the config.cfg, some people might not found this "Crispy" option (would have been better to name it differently I think).
Such game is much more appreciable with quality ON!!!

I started to play it today, interesting game & Uplink remake!
Meantime, you should set "gl_software" to "0" by default in the "config.cfg", the software mode is ******* ugly nowadays!

PS: The character model looks like Gerard Butler!

What has been done to the engine? Some recompilation of the GoldSrc one from ReHLDS, with Xash3D features included? Or did you moved to Xash3D use?

Sorry to say that, but Blsah's mapping style looks too close to the original HL textures/style (about visual quality), others mappers (J5, Vortigaunt, Who_again, Machine) do better work for a render "close to Source environment".
This mod should completly make you feel you are playing under Source engine, while it is under GoldSrc!
So my advice is, either he should rework the map/textures (I am not talking about the shape, but about the "quality/beauty"), either the other mappers should do it instead.

This looks more "juicy" than some images under yellow font!
Just a personnal suggestion for more "attraction"!

I might also suggest you to change the head image font to something more "good looking", why not one where you grab the "BLACK MESA" name & logo written in the top of this current image.

Apart from that, the game should be in the "Xash3D" category (https://www.moddb.com/engines/xash3d-engine/games), like some others I saw still in "Half-Life" mods category, since it is using that extended engine.
But I guess you might have more attention at letting it here, at least for now (because people know more about "Half-Life" term rather than "Xash3D" one).
