Yes, there is an alternative ending.
Currently there is a bug at the orb boss that might cause the screen not return after blacking out. I think this will be solved in the next update though.

We have some problems with early shader model 3.0 gpu's (GeForce 6600 specifically), but even with those it's playable, I've heard.

I also think atom cpu machines will struggle. I think anything like mid range Core2Duo with a dedicated GPU will be playable.

On weaker machines, you'll need to disable vsync in-game though.

Does that answer your question sufficiently?

Oh... then it's a distribution issue. Sadly, I have to say, it's not the first time the uploading has gone wrong with the standalone versions on Desura.

Hmmm... since this issue is both on Arch, and Vista, I'm guessing graphics cards issues.
It would be helpful for us if we had some log from this. They're located different places for the different systems:
Windows: The Teslagrad_Data folder next to the exe file
Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Rain/Teslagrad/
Mac: ~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log
You can contact us on our forum, or email to support@rain-games.com

We're using Unity, which is an awesome general purpose game engine. The scripts are mostly written in boo. If you're unfamiliar with boo, it's equivalent to c# for almost all intents and purposes. It takes a few seconds longer to compile, but has a neat macro feature.
