I love playing single player mods for some of my favorite games and I tip my hat to those who work hard making some wonderful creations. I have been very impressed with some of the Portal and Half Life 1 mods. Keep up the good work, modders.

I've been playing HL1 with Max Vollmer's VR mod and it is siiiiick! As soon as I finish the base game I'm gonna try to see if Life's End works with it as well (it should). So glad to hear Time's End still lives. If it all works in VR, then I'm gonna be super happy.

70+ maps?! You are a madman!

Thank you for continuing to work on this KD! I have hundreds of hours in HL: Alyx but I still haven't forgotten about how awesome Life's End was and look forward to this being done in your own time. Hope you are healthy and happy!

Man with Coronavirus, Daniel will finish it and then port it as a mod for Alyx in no time!

I loved just about everything about this mod. There's too many great moments to mention here (Close...call...amigo) but I will mention a couple of bugs I encountered.

I had the same crash as SylvesterRedbarry below when opening the bathroom door. Upon reloading the game, the crash didn't happen a second time. Also, when the Gargantua first showed up, I ran all the way back and he got stuck there. I'm not sure if the scene would have progressed properly but I don't think it would have. I reloaded a save and ran to the right this time and then all was normal.

That's all I encountered. Everything else was simply superb and it was a delightful way to dive back into Black Mesa for a few hours. A tremendous thanks to MrGnang for all of his monumental efforts here!

"179 watchers...lol. You're in the hot-seat, KingDaniel. Make it happen."

I posted that in 2011. I haven't come back to this site in the past 4 years. I dusted off HL1 and decided to play it thru and then remembered this mod in waiting. So happy to hear you are still working on it. Hope it comes our way soon!

KingDaniel has too much polite Britishness in him to tell this guy to **** off like he should. You messed around with his mod which you had nothing to do with.

Changed my vote to 8/10.

After reading up, apparently the elevator bug is well-known and not the modders fault. To get past that part, I kept pushing at the scientist to keep him walking as the elevator descended and then jumped at the last moment before it stopped. It was quite a pain but worth it. The ending was awesome and very challenging on hard.

Large parts of it dragged for me or I would have given it a 9/10, but overall it was a great mod.

Even on hard this was way too easy. The shotgun is OP. Some good design elements but some other bad ones, like an invisible ladder that was required to progress through one of the levels. Wasn't feeling it in general. 6/10

Not my cup of tea. Felt very clunky. Not gonna vote because I didn't get very far.

Kind of laggy and not really fun. Also felt kind of pointless but was funny for a minute. 3/10

Another fun, short mod. This one was more challenging than most of the other short mods for me. I ended the game with almost no health. I give it an 8/10.

Bug-free and fun but very short. Still a solid effort that reminded me of playing de_rats in CS. Well Done. 8/10

Fun mod but very short. Still a good effort and I found no bugs. I give it a 7/10. Nothing too special but still fun.

A good effort but didn't click for me on several levels. I didn't care for the level design much (not the textures and what-not which was good, but the actual layout). Why was the "general" wearing a pink dress that went up to her crotch? I did not like the two primary voice actors at all.

There are some things that I did not like, such as the general darkness of the tomb, but not enough to make me want to finish it. 6/10

I had the same problem as stuntcrab and joppe38. HUD was gone completely and I couldn't switch weapons except with the Q key (which let's me switch between the stick and the rocket launcher, LOL). Unfortunately, the only way I was able to fix it was by using Previous Versions for the savegame folder and reverting to older saves stored with Volume Shadow Copy service. I was incredibly lucky that the last VSS snapshot was taken 20 minutes prior and included a savegame that was prior to the HUD disappearance. After reloading that save, I was able to play through normally and didn't have the problem reoccur.

As for the mod, I thought it had fantastic level design, puzzles and random pr0n. I liked that you had to pick up items and codes to get past certain spots, which made it feel a bit like Resident Evil in a good way. What I didn't like about it was the aforementioned HUD bug, but more importantly the fact that it was too easy combat-wise. I always play mods on hard and this one was just way too easy. I also thought that it was a tad short, and the transition comicbook stuff was cut off on the top at my 1920x1200 resolution. Otherwise, I throughly enjoyed playing the mod and thought it was very well done overall. I give it an 8/10.

The remake of this mod made me want to puke with the motion sickness it caused. This original version was far better IMO.

Got too much motion sickness from the mod and stopped after 10 minutes. Gonna check out the original now, instead. Otherwise, it looked promising.

Great mod...it is about as long as the original game and full of unique content and enemies. The super-headcrabs and the gun-toting zombie soldiers were cool. All in all, a very nice mod. Personally, I thought it was a bit too repetitive near the end, but that is about the only bad thing I have to say about this mod. Everything else about it was fantastic. 9/10.

Some bugs in the mod: crashed when I saved and reloaded during the initial cutscene. If you don't jump at the end of an elevator ride going down, you get stuck in the floor. I needed to bring a scientist down an elevator and he got stuck every time. Any fix for that one? I had to stop playing it after that. Without the bugs, I still give it a 6/10. It was a nice effort but not so much fun, IMO.

I gave this a 7/10. Although I really liked it and enjoyed some of the unique additions made to it, dragging Kate around really ruined a good portion of the experience. There is not much you can do as a modder of HL1 to fix that, but it did hurt the experience for me. The level design was mostly nice, but sometimes unnecessarily frustrating. I still had fun playing it and recommend it to any HL1 enthusiast. POV was a lot better, IMO.

Another one of the top 5 best HL1 mods. The inclusion of the text storyline along the way was brilliant, and the story itself was well thought out. The fact that you had to read it sometimes for key information throughout the game was a nice touch.

Make sure you click the button that you bound to story whenever you see a symbol pop up under your "flashlight" indicator. A sound will precede it when it pops up.
