Actually... it is a hobby. Have you completely lost your grip on reality? These people make no money off this, and yet the way you talk to them is that they owe you and everyone else who plays the mod, and that if they can't deliver when you want it because they have 'other commitments' then they should leave before they 'soil the Edain name'. You say they should 'stop making excuses and leave let somebody else do it'. Who will do it? Will you? I expect you will curl up in the foetal position after 1 week of reading the negative insulting garbage that immature little imbeciles like you post. Let alone the fact I bet you have NO IDEA how difficult it is to mod a game. Have you ever programmed in your life? Anyone can program in a very basic way, but programming to a high level requires years of training and experience.

Then there is the matter of these 'other commitments' you mention. What? You mean life? Are you saying these modders are not allowed to live their life? Not allowed to go to work? Not allowed to socialize with friends? Have other hobbies? What kind of sick garbage is that, I ask you?

I ask you to re-read exactly what you wrote and exactly how it sounds. If you still feel that your comment was justified and fair after re-reading it, then I have no hope for you having a shred of decency in you. Good day sir!

People have lives, and these guys don't get paid for their hobby. If you don't like that, thats your decision, but some people respect that and hence they don't expect everything to be done fast, and hence love the mod, like myself.

Seems that half the complaints about seige are that the seige engines are too powerful, and half the complaints are that the defences are too powerful. I personally have never felt that either are too powerful, but perhaps that's because I only play against AI. Perhaps the two differing opinions cancel eachother out? Or perhaps both are too powerful? xD

BFME2 play style is common as muck in many strategy games. BFME1 playstyle is unique, fun, and interesting.

Use the Cronosphere to time-travel-teleport your level 10 robot unicorn uber warriors right into the heart of Sauron's base. Revenge for the thousands of unicorns sacrificed in his name by the edain community.

In all seriousness now... You would probably be better off using a watch to time your matches. The game slows down or speeds up dramatically depending on how many units/players there are so it isn't really accurate or worth while, don't you think?

Unless things have changed, the previous MM updates from Edain said they would have a mountain giant lair as an outpost option where you can build mountain giants from. The other option was Fire Drakes I believe. Settlements were wargs, trolls (inc. tom, bert and bill), and wild orcs I think... Not 100% sure, but you can check the old posts. Also it may have changed :)

Just one minor concern about the Imladris fortress now being square. I may be alone in this, but I thought the round design far prettier. However, I guess the practical reason was to allow for the 7th building plot?

Anyone else having issues with the worldbuilder?

I keep trying to open it, and after I accept the agreement, it crashes saying it doesn't have access to write a virtual thread.

Is it just me, or are others having this problem too??

Personally, I've got the original game (back from when it was released). I imagine this is the car for most? Some others bought the game online to play the mod. Others still (those naughty few) likely downloaded the game illegally and cracked it.

You can report issues on the submods in the appropriate forum at modding union. Putting them here just clutters and already extremely messy 1-topic 'forum'. Blame moddb if anyone for not providing a proper forum system.

Perhaps you should take a break and play another game then come back to Edain :)

Ofcourse you will get bored of a game if you play it non-stop. I don't know of any game that would not make me bored if I played it as much as you.

Sorry, I hope that doesn't come across as rude, I just think maybe you are expecting too much from a mod of an old game.

Also, the mod is far from dead. It is extremely popular and support is growing all the time. The team add amazing new things and features with every patch.

Hope you can learn to enjoy it in moderation :)

I use a custom set of AI scripts in an Edain map I made because I wanted to have the AI build towers on their build plots, and it works. Not sure if it would help for the core skirmish AI, but I can upload to a dropbox and pm you the link if you'd like?

Most probably, whilst not technically grammatically correct, is a common expression similar too "most definitely". It essentially can be switched for: "There is a high probability that" blah blah blah... Or simply (and more easily): "Most likely"

Thankyou for all your hard work. Most of us appreciate it and respect that you are doing it for free and because you want to.

I hope that those few voices who say negative things like "Edain team ignores its fans" don't get to you. They are just unappreciative and immature. You do a lot, and listen a lot to the fans of the mod even though you don't have to. We really appreciate that (most of us), so thanks again and have a pleasant day.

Hi Edain team,

Just an idea for a new Rohan outpost alternative:

Muster camp. This is a camp of tents surrounded by wooden pallisades. There are two small wooden lookout towers which fire at nearby enemies (weak attack). The camp costs only 800, but can be improved later through upgrades. The camp provides very low income when created, and allows recruitment of militia. Militia cost 200, have an axe and shield and have stats similar to a peasant who had just used a draft ability, except that they are stronger against buildings then a peasant. The idea is that they are slightly trained and already indoctrinated into the rohan military. The war camp can recieve its first upgrade to become a war camp for the cost of 400 resources. This takes some time (say 60 seconds) and when complete, the muster camp becomes a war camp which changes to have better stats and visually some of its tents are replaced by wooden structures. Also, it gets a third wooden tower and all 3 now start to look more like sentry towers and do slightly higher damage. Once complete, the rohan player can now build rohan militia at level 2 (with banner carrier) for an increased cost of 300. The structure can now build rohan scouts. Rohan scouts are 5 riders with light cloth armour and wielding an axe and shield but can switch to bow using a toggle at level 2. They are faster then most other cavalry, and have a passive ability to detect invisible units at level 3 and above. They cannot recieve armour or weapon upgrades (except flaming arrows). They cost less cp then normal cavalry and 250 resources. The war camp can further be upgraded to become a war garrison for 600 resources, which now looks visually like the rohan fortress from edain 3.8. This war garrison has better stats and can be further upgraded with flaming munitions and wall banners (for increased experience to nearby units). The idea of this whole concept comes from Rohan mustering troops and the camp is a major location for nearby villagers to go to join the local militia in the defense of nearby villages. The rohirhim couldn't protect everyone at once inside their borders so the people would have had to take up arms themselves. Once they had changed from peasants to warriors if the war was still going some of them would need to stay and maintain an active militia to protect their lands. I hope you like my idea. :-)

I don't know what mod you are playing. Here we are playing Edain. I have just tested. 1 upgraded battalion of rohirhim will kill most pike units 1v1, but not so unupgraded. Seems fair to me. Also, for ranged try rohirhim archers. They are fantastic. They can run shoot run shoot and run again, easily defeating pikes. Don't send your cavalry to kill pikes in the first place. That's what peasants and archers at for. Send your fast cavalry to flank them killing archers and ranged seige. And if they are stupid enough not to bring any pikes (or not enough), destroy them outright. You are just playing rohan badly, sorry.

Dear Edain team,

I noticed you removed the Isengard AI's ability to place defensive towers. Will you be bringing this back in a later patch? Also, will you be programming all AI to place defensive towers? It's kinda super easy if they don't, even on brutal mode.

As a programmer it isn't too difficult to make the AI build towers. I added that functionality in myself each patch (after making a backup).The Isengard AI already builds towers without any need for modifying the Edain files.

Hi,

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I built a map using worldbuilder, and the AI won't capture the settlements or outposts. They send units, and the units sit there right next to the settlements without capturing them.

Please help! :)

Hi team!

Love the mod, love the dwarves update.

Just a few small bugs to report, and a couple of balance suggestions (in-case they haven't already been reported/suggested).

Bugs:
- AI doesn't build troops from laketown/dale on all maps I have tried.
- Gimli's leap doesn't seem to work.
- Dwarves' castle is too big on a few maps, walls are missing at start.
- Often building new outposts, camps or castles, plots/walls are missing.

Balance suggestions:
- Veterans of Khazad Dum are extremely strong, and relatively cheap/easy.
Suggestion: Make them less strong, or make them less chance of appearing.
- Dwarven chariots have a few problems:
Very low health, die very quickly.
High cost, but low CP. Should be high CP/cost, or low CP/cost.
They are not very useful. Only for killing enemy archers sometimes.
Suggestion: Make them higher CP & tougher, damage seems fine.
