Hm that is weird. No idea what causes that :/ Especially while saving? Can you check if it works in the base game? If not, check with elevated right (starting as administrator).
For reinstalling, you could try to delete the eaw (not foc) folder (or better move it somewhere else as a backup) and then use the repair function of the installer (dont know if the GOG installer has that though...).
Yes, try to install it step by step again and test after each step. That way you will know which step causes the mod to corrupt. Let us know your results if you can, this will be useful information for others :)

Haha yes, that was a bug in the 1.X.
Every ship without hardpoints has a central point where enemies aim at, unfortunately (or fortunately for you in this case :D ) due to a bug this point was outside above the hitbox of the model, meaning every enemy ship would target above McKay :D Ah, fun times.

Your power-to-shield effect looks amazing. I love the distortion and often use it in particle effects.
I wonder what shader you used in Max and if it could be used for (transparent) windows on a model.
This will be fixed. It should actually not darken the terrain but instead provide some subtle lighting, but there was a bug.

The lighting looks amazing, did you make any changes to the way the game is rendered? It seems like there is some Ambient Occlusion in there.
Ja da gabs auch nicht viel, man kann sich höchstens an der Lazarus-Station und aus dem zweiten Teil orientieren und auf die Cerberus-Basis am Ende des dritten Teils. Dann gibts da glaube ich noch ein paar Konzeptzeichnungen mit STationen, aber da kommt man um eine Eigenkreation nicht herum.

It depends on what you are used to, you can use any program you like in sections like 2D, but in 3D and animation 3ds Max is recommended since otherwise there often are problems when trying to export models and animation ;)

Looks good :) Only thing i would change is the railguns. It always looks a bit weird if the projectiles are very close to each other and directly behind each other in a straight line. If you set them apart a bit it may look better.
Du kannst bei der Steam Version nicht FOC über die .exe starten, starte das direkt aus Steam heraus, dann sollte es gehen.
I guess it would be cool to fight with BC-304s against Star Destroyers :D But the problem is, that the engine doesn´t really support more then 3 factions. There is a lot of work involved to add additional factions and i think there are same serious bugs then.
