I´ve animated all the tentacles of the Slave Ship and this is what I get in aloViewer... even though some tentacles keep the animation, most of the mesh is completely screwed up. You can judge how is it supposed to look from the shadow it drops. but it´s pretty weird-the animation works fine in 3dsMax, but is completely screwed ingame; part of the mesh (all the tentacles are a single mesh) did export well, others not; I´ve already exported some animations without trouble; none of my attempts to fix it was succesful (reseting XForm, using different RSkin_XXX shader, converting to editable patch/mesh; reexporting it).
Any help?
Edit: ingame all the twisted parts of the model are strechted to the very center of the map...
I suggest asking in fora like polygon etc
doubt your profile gets enough traffic to get lucky help but who knows :P
yeah, I´m somehow aware of this... but I´ve searched for that topic but no luck (or googling skills) and I doubt these forums are still alive, so this was like the the last hope. I´ve contacted also some of the more experienced modders so I´ll see.
so I´ve searched deeper and found some people with same issues, but sadly nobody was able to help them. some say it is caused by that Star Gate mod which affects original shaders...
Dead fora? believe me there are 3D etc fora still very much alive you probably havent been looking right.
good luck to you anyway, hopefully youll find a good fix.
I've currently got (what I believe is) the exact same problem.
I'm trying to animate a person; everything is fine in Max 9, but comes up all screwy in the ALO viewer.
If you'd like, I can upload it somewhere for you to take a look at, and see if there are any similarities between our models that could be causing this.
I also had problem with aloViewer not being able to display meshes with RSkin on them (even on vanilla) units), but it worked fine after I deleted and reextracted the shaders, which got corrupted probably by that SG-P Ch mod...
This happened to me several times before.
It is important to use the bones with the right shader. I personally use RSKINSGLOSS.FX for infantry. When you create a movement you have to look if the color of the entertainment bar is the right color. Green is not good. Red is almost good. I suggest you make a key each tentacle movement. if the animation ALA is 15 to 15 then key. Otherwise import the model in 3ds max and redone movement.
My English is horrible I hope you understand my words.
you have to use one of the RSKINxxx shader if you want to make the skin animations visible. My animation is, however, pretty long (has to be decent/slow) so I had to divide all the tentacles into separate meshes and apply skin to them uniquely. And it works fine... Now I´m having that trouble again with this vessel Moddb.com
