Not sure what to say here except from how I got into modding: I grew up with gaming, I like creating stuff, I started making maps, I started making scripts, triggers etc for maps & games then I started making mods. I think I started modding when I was about 10, but that stuff oh god.

Probably a similar story to most modders. My life is quite unique though, and I wished it wasn't most of the time. But if it wasn't so screwed up I'd miss all the hilarious parts too.

Hey there Saiboht! I have a problem when trying to start the editor for Soldiers. Whenever I run: "start_editor.bat" I get greeted with the following error message: "resource/set/registry.reg (eiorepository.cpp, 196)". I don't understand the error nor what I must do to fix it. I would appreciate it if you or anyone could help me fix this error.

Thanks

Hello, sir. You can move the editor files to the main game files, that always works. Cheers, Guest.

For ".mdl" files, eventually use SOEdit.

Cheers.

What software did you use to edit your Soldiers: Heroes of World War II ply and mdl files? I tryed using blender (which I already had from modding Morrowind)but it couldn't import them. I've done some texture changes by using paint.net and testing them in the GEM editor but it'd be alot easier to edit with the texture wrapped around them right away, not to mention I need a software to make new/modified weaponry. Soldiers is my favorite WW2 game and I'm trying to figure out as much about it as possible. Thanks

A little bit delayed answer: I used the default text editor from windows to edit the .mdl & .tex files, I never edited the .ply files. I never actually edited the models, only textures. I could never find any model converter that would work with S:HoWW2.

To ease the process I made a custom level with infantry carrying all the items & uniforms I edited & made the editor launch that map by default. This way I could test changes faster, but I still don't know how to edit or even look at the models without the game or editor.
