I think if you guys made this mod official on Steam, you would get a LOT more players. Sadly people do not know as much about Half Life 1 and it's mods or where to look for them or how to make them work. Making it as easy as one click and it is on their system would do wonders.

Of course you still have to have the Half Life 1 base game, unless you got it working on Sven Co-op again, seeing how Sven- Co-op is free and Half Life 1 is not even needed.

Always loved this game though. If I had ever really got into mapping, I would of definitely contributed to this mod. Both officially if my maps were accepted or as side maps (no cheat maps though.) Good luck guys! I still consider you top ten, if not top five best Half Life 1 mods of all time!

Really great work. I hope you continue. We could shoot Lan Di, instead of fighting him with fists and feet. ^^!

It is great that you were (still are?) working on stuff like this. But have you tried anything with the Steam release of Shenmue 1 and 2? Adding new areas, NPCs, quests, moves, buying function (stores and shop owners are already there), etc.? Good job on what you have worked on so far.

This looks pretty awesome! How is it coming? I was about to post this where I know it would be appreciated (I still may), but I do not want to get their hopes up. I assume you would be able to wear the tiger jacket in game as well? ^^!

On of the best from the HL1 era that is for sure. A shame this is irrelevant now. It still is above some other mods on HL2 and even newer AAA games on the market now.

Where exactly do you extract the files to? It's been a while since I installed a mod. What is the precise folder extension you need to extract it to? Thank you. ^^!

I've wondered this too. Why are game/mod makers using programs or techniques that DO trigger anti-virus programs? It makes no sense to me. Especially if more than ONE program is giving off the warning. I am not saying this has any, as I have not downloaded it. The mod was recommended, but I am not sure if it was meant to be from here which is a site I trust or from a different one. But if multiple people, using multiple anti-virus programs are trying to warn others, I think I shall pass. And I would assume ModDB would check all the stuff uploaded.

I am inquiring for someone else, but I will no doubt eventually want to try my hand at it myself as it was explained to me being awesome and adds a LOT of things to the game. But how do we get the original Monster Mod Wasteland Edition if on Nexus it is hidden? Can it be located some where else? If we do not have that, we can not even use yours. Any suggestions?

So are all those weapons actually in the game to collect or they are randomized each time where you may or may not see them in each play through?

Was there something beyond that locked door then? And I do not like to cheat. ^_^

Probably because the life expectancy of a Trooper was about 15 seconds. Usually enough time to get off the dropship, unload a magazine to kill two or three of the bugs and then get slaughtered themselves. ^_^

I get to the title screen, but when I try to start it nothing happens. I get no errors, just the game does not begin no matter what difficulty level I set.

I found it thank you. I was having problems finding what I needed in the DNA room to begin with. Standing next to the Lambada door I could hear another door behind it opening and closing, but not the one in front of me. After grabbing the hidden scientist I had to basically hand hold him all the way to the door that was initially locked which thankfully was not very far, but it took forever. After opening that door I took him back a way to another locked door that had the dummy waiter in it. (I was confused on rooms, one has the dummy waiter and a locked door and the other next to the broken elevator next to the DNA room has the locked door and the box of liquid.)

Anyway after making to the dummy waiter room with the scientist, again having to hold his hand the entire way as I guess the dead bodies every where was making it hard for him to continue, he tried to activate the door and then nothing happened. He just said he would like a shotgun or something. Was that door next to the dummy waiter actually suppose to open? After he tried it I would keep walking into the door, but it never made any more error or "locked" sounds. And thanks for the tip before.

All in all I really enjoyed this mod, minus the hang ups already described. It had a very good start. You were not hand held through it, even though it can be frustrating not knowing what to do or how to go about it. But the ending could of been much better and left you where you started at, as it could of delved more into the story. Still though a decent mod.

One question though. The area where you find your first security guard after you have been teleported, the one with the locked door that the guard has to use the eye scanner to let you in... there are bars in the wall that can be broken and also in the adjacent room where there are explosive crates, there is a grate (two grates I believe...) that can also be destroyed. But both lead to long pipes and infinite darkness.

On the wall where the bars are/were, behind one of the pipes, appears to be a door or hatchway. That can not of been put there by mistake, yet I can not get to it. What was the meaning of that to be placed there? Some thing extra for the player to get to had it been implemented? A mistake? Something to kill the player? Just window dressing so to speak? Or am I missing a secret some where? It is hard to believe both ways to the pipe room leads to no where.

Also the map transition between the rocket area and the scientist facility, where the door has to close behind you and then you touch the keypad for the level to load, kept getting me stuck. No matter how close I was to the pad or doors, provided I could still reach the keypad, I would just freeze in place and the noise coming from the two cylinders that revolve in the next room were constant. The only way for me to pass it was to keep jumping as I touch the keypad in order for me not to get stuck.

And I had trouble launching the rocket. All objectives were met, all power was on. I was pressing every button I could see on the switch board and nothing. I kept running all around and could not find anything extra, even pressing the USE key on different consoles.

I had to of done this several times when going back to the switch board I had by mistake "rubbed" against the red button and then the rocket went off. O_o

I only have OpenGL or "software". When I choose software the game shuts down. When I restart it the game is back on OpenGL again.

The security guard got stuck on the steps between map transitions and I believe he was suppose to open the door to the lab with the key pad. I just fought my way through waves of grunts and assassins to find this out and now have to start over... O_o

It is a bit laggy. Why is that? Other mods with graphical enhancements do not do this.

Nope still not working. I am assuming it is one of two things. The way I download and install mods it creates the mod within a folder of itself and I have to click and drag it back one folder into the regular Half Life folder. Since there are two main folders here, the mod and then one with HD I am not sure if that is screwing something up or not.

Then the instructions say to place such and such next to the HL.exe or something and I do not understand and never done that before. Is that going to screw up HL1 or any of the mods I have already downloaded?

I was only half joking as I assume lowering the details that you spent time to create would make playing it almost pointless, as it becomes almost vanilla HL2. Maybe some new animations and weapon models would still be there, but most of the particle effects and what not would be gone or severely hampered.

Pretty decent. That one part where you have to open a door and kill the bullsquid and two zombies was a bit of a pain. The power button for the door was some where else out of the ordinary and it was very hard to see as it was blending in the background.

Also near the end the machine you get to use would not let me in, even after I got the code. Perhaps because I had tried to get into it before. I had to load a previous auto save to do it. Also the hologram that gives you the passcode was glitching any time you tried to watch it again. That may be a Steam Pipe issue though.

Otherwise this was a decent mode and really liked the voice acting. It breathed new life into it. Great job! Voted as one of the mods for best mod of the year with 2 hours to spare! ^_^

Ravensholm - - 163 comments @ Half-Rats: Parasomnia

Haha! I had played Fever Dream a while back to my enjoyment and then immediately tried this Parasomnia and got stuck on the tutorial. Much more freaky than the first title. ^_^! Plus I was having problems understanding a few things...

Does the cat work as expected? I point all the way across the map and press the corresponding button ("Z" I believe) to send the kitty there, but the fish only "drops" in front of me a few feet. I had assumed it was suppose to travel a bit further... Also what is the point of the cat as it does not go through fences, even with big spaces in them? And my game froze with the cat after I had dropped the fish it was not moving towards it, but instead still following me so I tried to the USE key on the cat and the game shut down.

The sword I would of assumed would block when the button is held down or only for a moment and then goes back at the ready. Instead it stays blocking for as long as needed. Also the kick itself would of been nice to have with all weapons, not just the sword, although obviously it would of needed to be mapped to a button all it's own. And the ability to kick even while blocking would of been nice, but due to the block is auto, I guess that would of made it over powered or cheap.

Lastly is it really suppose to be that dark? I had to turn everything up for both brightness and gamma and the game still feels too dark. I think that is what made the tutorial so scary and I agree it is a good mechanic, but even with candles lit the place is just dark, almost annoyingly dark, opposed to just scary dark. I there something wrong on my end or that the atmosphere you wanted to create? Perhaps these parts are far and few between in the actual game perhaps?

And the shopkeeper and the vending machines, shouldn't one have something the other doesn't? Like if it was too far to travel or too dangerous for the shopkeeper, shouldn't the vending machine lack something or have something that the shopkeeper does not have? So when you see one you wish the other was there or be thankful when you actually came across it?

Also again the voice acting is top notch in the tutorial! Great job.

I got to play this game back in it's hey day I guess you could call it. It was not very populated even back then, but it was fun. Felt like the Battlegrounds in a sense, but still held to it's own merits. Had this game been fully realized we could of had true trench warfare with whole squads rushing over the open field as a wall of bullets were fired to stop them. Or mortar rounds, gas attacks, tanks even could of been included in some form or fashion. What a shame it was not meant to be. Anyone still play this game though?

I keep getting stuck at the part with a broken ladder and you can push two soda can (?) crates presumably to be able to use them as a step to reach higher. But each time you get to the loading of the map transition, the crates disappear. They reappear when you go back through it, but the crates are uselessly out of reach. If you try to pull them through slowly, you get stuck in them. I can not pass that part. Also at the very beginning when you kill your first two soldiers, if you jump a little too far and go over the barrels, you can fall between them and the rock face making you permanently stuck.
