Btw, it's totally historically accurate to use kit with StG 44 in German assault spawn class, if you want to change that. The German unit that fought there was Kampfgruppe Heintz, which was composed from several of 275th Infantry Division - Gren.Regt. 984, Fusilier Batallion and some others, and, according to the reports I found recently, they were well equipped with StGs, something particularly untypical for Normandy campaign.

The only map from that list that officially supports bots is Motovskiy Bay (navmeshed by me, btw). Others were navmeshed by the community members and included in COOP mappack that is redistributed through the CMP Updater.

No, the mod is still in active development, though development team is pretty small.
Singleplayer support is unlikely to be introduced, see my reasoning in comment below.

FHSW doesn't have singleplayer support since the release of version 0.4 and in 0.5 all maps crash when you try to play them in Coop/SP.

The main reason for lacking singleplayer support is that the Japanese community, where the mod originated, is so big that they have a full server every day. There's simply no need for additional bots that would fill the empty slots. So they invest all their time and effort into further enhancing the mulitplayer experience rather than wasting it on AI coding. There are also a lot of things in this mod that are just not doable or require enormous work with the BF1942 AI like switchable ammo, maps with trenches, tunnels, buildings, ships or generally maps with a lot of obstacles.

So there's not much we can do about that, but you can help us reaching our goal to also have also a full server in Europe. You can do so by joining our forum and/or our server on the events.

Unfortunately, no, since FHSW is a pure multiplayer mod, so it will crash when you try to play it in singleplayer. But guys from Japan set up a cooperative server recently, though it's not online 24/7, but appears from time to time and all new vehicles were removed from maps, since they don't suppoty bots.

There are no test maps for 0.552, unfortunately, but you can download test maps from 0.51 here: Dl.dropboxusercontent.com Test Maps.zip
Just extract FHSW folder to <BF1942 folder>/Mods. Though they don't contain some new equipment added in 0.55, like Sturmtiger or T95 GMC.

About Gamespy, this is mentioned in the article:
As you've probably heard Gamespy shut down the online support for BF1942 which means either your game locks up or it doesn't show any servers when updating the in-game server browser. But as always the community puts EA to shame and within days a solution was available, huge thanks to the creator s[sk]. I included the fix into the FHSW installer so no additional steps are required to play online. Go to here if you want some information about the changes he did.

Regarding your second question: do you mean Pixel-Fighter? Yeah, it still all the same.

Big respect from me to the developers for the time they have spent on this beatiful mod, but I have one question: why do you block access to your site from all Russian and Ukrainian IP adresses? I hope this was made not for political prejudices, since I believe everybody here are above politics. I can use proxy, Tor or I2P in order to reach it, of course, but this is not deal.

Patch 0.551, which squashes many bugs, is released!
All you need to do is downloading this small archive (it's only 9 MB in size) Dropbox.com and extracting it to your FHSW mod directory: .../Battlefield 1942/Mods/FHSW
Confirm overwriting all the files when prompted

I discovered that FH2Zombies doesn't work with new 2.46 version. In order to make it work, unzip this patch in FH2Zombies folder:
