Only 185 MB for the installer? I was expecting a more beefy file :P
No, we aren't. In fact, we are currently re-animating some of the NPCs, as their sequences were... well, somewhat ******. Also, the model of the Hunter has been changed, because the old one wasn't as fearsome as we wanted. And expect a new teaser video very soon.
I really miss the simplicity of v1... ;-;
Depending of the areas, you will roam through empty complex areas or dark, scary passages where you can hear the zombies howling for flesh. The ammo is a negative issue, because zombies are strong and usually you have to fall back to your SPAS-12 or SparkShot to clear some areas. Don't even think about facing a Hunter with the knife or the Beretta :P
And yes, we are doing everything to keep the Resident Evil-esque atmosphere. Remember the zombie that got out of the closet when you where reading that document in the original game? Well... maybe you will find his cousins here :)
Nope, the physics simulations run in software mode. You need a PhysX card in two cases, when the amount of physic bodies is huge, and when you are simulating cloths or fluids.
Why is this tut in the "coding" section? o.o?
Anyway, good one. I miss single-player sequence scripting so much :D
Some pesty hackers used their lame-skills to SQL inject the PHPBB forums. I restored a backup some hours ago and updated the version. Everything works again!
TheQuartz, Episode 2 is scheduled for 2006 Christmas. I think you should release one or two versions before that... perhaps with the pilotable DOG? :P
People often uses modification's bases for doing another mappacks (look at Nuclear Winter, it was based off Opposing Force). So, if you are meaning to this, you can do it. If you are asking for the source code or other core things... it is under discussion if we will release it or not :P
@Dark_Raver9: Computers are just an useable brush entity. Configuration parameters come in a txt file, just like the diaries. You can select the username, password, and number/type of files to make available to the player (text files, image files, external triggers).
We don't have anything planned to support furthers modders. If we were doing a multiplayer modification or something that had a bigger third-party development community, we would focus more in those posibilities.
But you stiil can join the team and help us doing The Lost Survivor. We have open positions for everything :P
Yeah, `Matt gave me some support when i started messing with it. And I have to thank him :P
PS: LOL, bandwith exceeded... I didn't know so much people would download it... and my webhosters are going to kill me D:
Unreal bought the engine a year or so for Unreal Tournament 2007. Since then, Ageia purchased Novodex and they are now working in the PhysX Physics Cards. Dowload the SDK, it comes with some good demos. And yes, ragdolls will be available for The Lost Survivor ;)
Well. We have spoken lots of times about this. Maybe, and I say maybe, when this is done and finished, we will release the source code or donate it to the Spirit of Half-Life community. But this needs to be discussed more deeply.
People still play HL1. And we are doing this to fully explain our story. And by the time we finish the HL1 part, HL2 SDK will be almost bugfree :D
Thank you :). We are now doing the last tests of the course, and we are aiming to release another trailer soon, showing more of the enhancements we are making to the HL engine.
The Lost Survivor is a little prologue for HL1 engine. We'll continue with the main story, The Last Citizen, under HL2, when we finish this one.
PS: Sorry but webpage is down for now. Problems with the hosting :(
Finally registered! Let's start rocking the HL community soon!
No se, pero eso de poner "primer mod español" os lo podriais ahorrar, porque ya hay varios. Procurad tener sección en inglés para el resto de la gente :P
Yes, we are trying to release the MOD on 25th December 2002. This first beta will be some so-so, and it will be only in Spanish (we are a Spanish team). We only want to show the people a piece of our work, and, if we can, on 1st March 2003 a 2nd public beta will be released, in English and Spanish and with a lot of new weapons, maps, and game modes. We are waiting your support and your suggestions.
The O:EF Team
PS: Merry Christmas to All!
