Follow me on Twitter for micro reviews and occasional rant about the indie and gaming scene as a whole. World needs permadeath ;)
It's not a game, it's an interactive novel.
I didn't like the style - it's like poor man's retro rpg with ugly font and sad textboxes. The controls are clunky and when using skill that required charging I had to stop moving for it to begin.
Pros.
-Easy to delete from your hard drive
Cons.
-Style
-Controls
-Didn't care for the story
-Juvenile
I give this game 4 just because someone spent enormous amount of time to make a game that I hate.
If you didn't enjoy Populous in the first place then you won't be enjoying this either.
Pros.
-Lot's of green
Cons.
-Clunky, bad controls
-Hard to see where are you placing things
-You wether like or hate the art style
-Art style
Review based on alpha demo 9.7.2012
Pros:
-Would be great if there were more GOOD roguelike games
Cons:
-Way too dark, my eyes are sore now
-Too much gore, looks just silly
-Levels not procedural enough
-Too simple (even shooting feels repetive)
-Floaty controls
Poor-man's Spelunky.
Pretty puzzle platformer with serious issues.
Pros:
-Art
-Puzzles/mechanic
Cons:
-Controls are bad for precise movement
-Music is repetetive and get's annoying
If you want to challenge yourself and try to beat the record times, go away. This game is suitable for those that seek an easy going puzzle "adventure" but it's definitely not "tight" enough for serious gamer. Buy The Adventures of Shuggy instead.
Fantastic puzzle platformer with a gimmick. You are able to reverse and forward time and thus overcome death itself. This doesn't make the game easy though, since there's usually several things to take to concideration.
Pros:
-Art
-Controls
-Mechanics
-Story (if you like a bit depressing stories)
Cons:
-Very hard at times
For point&click fangirls 7 seems like blasphemy but I have my reasons and I'll tell you about it, don't you worry.
Pros:
-Puzzles feel logical while still weird and refreshing
-Story and the world is complex if you think about it
-Art style
Cons:
-Art style (it's one of those love it or hate it)
-Misses memobrable characters
For me the game was way too gray and too quiet/depressing all the time. I didn't feel any sympathy for the "mainbot".
Been playing Dredmor from day 1 and it's still awesome. Waiting for every official update/expansion since I don't like mods.
Gnomoria is currently in alpha-state which means there's plenty to improve before it's concidered as a finished product. This doesn't mean that it's unplayable, quite the contrary, it's a cheerful strategy/building sim in the veins of Dwarf Fortress.
Pros:
-Pretty graphics
-It's fun to run your own little kingdom
-Variety of things to do
Cons:
-Mouse controls are a bit clunky (alpha!)
-Lot to learn even though it's nowhere near DF.
-Slow paced (for those that seek for action/RTS, beware)
Can't wait for the future updates!
