Street Art in Montas

OrganicHumans Blog

Video games are a unique entity, interactive in nature and merging all of our creative mediums into one cohesive experience; art, literature, music and design. One particular piece of this combination can be seen in other games, though not often enough and rarely inspirational… Street Art.In fact, Street Art is almost non existent among video games today, what we see instead falls more into the category of graffiti and tags. I find this very strange, considering just how many street environments we can find in the average video game. Here to help combat this shortage is the talented Street Artist Walrus.
Commonly known for the non-destructive method of wrapping large sheets of plastic between poles to use as his canvas, Walrus is one of the most unique street artists in Australia today. The art produced by Walrus can be described as an endless spiral of organic fractals, forming a deep and personal meaning that emerges from the chaos. His work is spiritual and philosophical, representing the beauty of “pure consciousness”. It’s about appreciating the world “without our bodies, drawn into a higher plane”.Walrus is currently at the front of an urban war of ideals centered around his home city Canberra, where the act of performing street art is highly controversial and great effort is enforced by those in a position of power who wish to preserve the pristine white walls of the city. “In my eyes, Canberra is a blank canvas, we just need to fill it with colour and culture”.
Players will be able to find the great work of Walrus scattered throughout the world of Montas, and we thank him for the privilege.
