Thanks. I always enjoy hearing what people think of the game. The lack of sound on some Linux distros is a known issue. You may find a solution that works for you here:-

Stick to the easier ones at first, like Mask of the Boy King or Journey to the Kimon.
Here's a guide someone made about completing your first quest - Chat.hackslashloot.com
Linux sound is a minefield. Instructions on changing the lib that HSL uses can be found here - Chat.hackslashloot.com
The full game has 6 quests, and over 30 characters to unlock.
If you are struggling with health look out for Divine/Necrotic weapons and items with the Regeneration ability.
I'm not currently able to create a 64-bit build of the game due to the dev environment used to make the game. It's just not possible without a serious rewrite.
The limited inventory is part of the games mechanic. You have to choose carefully which equipment you want to take with you. If you zoom out fully then the whole level is visible on screen, or did you mean something else?
I won't answer your questions as I'm a little biased. I will however recommend trying the demo. It has two full unrestricted quests to play so gives a good impression of what the full game is like.
If you are a Linux user, and even if you're not experiencing sound issues, could you please test the demo build I've posted here. Chat.hackslashloot.com
I created the graphics. All the other games you see using them are actually using a variation of my CC sprite set. I do use some of Chris Barrets sprites, with his permission, and he is given full credit in the game.
I'm working on the Linux sound issue some people are having. Linux is complicated though so please bear with me.
The game uses the generally accepted roguelike key controls. If you don't know what they are there is a summary at the bottom of the 'How to' page. Hackslashloot.com
Enjoy.
I released the original CC set of these sprites. Oryx based his sprites on mine. Forums.tigsource.com
The more you know!
Thanks. There's no save functionality in the beta version, but the game will auto-save on exit in the final version.
The alpha build will only be for a controlled group, but the beta will be more public. I'll put it on here when it's ready for beta testing.
Thanks for the nice comments guys. No idea yet on a release date. My dev schedule doesn't look that far ahead. Will have a better idea where I stand after the first round of testing is complete.
Thanks. It's tested on Windows 7, Vista and XP, as well as Intel Mac OS X. I've had it running on Ubuntu, but the Linux development will generally lag behind the others.
