No, but I shall add the custom missions made by fans in the future releases.
My dear followers and supporters, I'm glad that you are still following my submod, even due to lack recent updates. Now, I'm glad to inform you that I've managed to solve the problem with the battlechatters: now there will be no shouts of Republican militia on Nacional side during the campaign, which was my problem and dealbreaker before releasing 1.0. To be honest: there are still accident of enemy shouts in some mission, but it can be a part of propaganda war, which took part in trenches, but I've managed to fix all the characters: both friendly and enemy AI. Sincerly, it will took away the plasure of gaming if he hear some strange slogans from Caballero Legionario or vice versa from Soldado Republicano, isn't it?
Apart from it: I'm considering publishing the series of articles about SCW and people who will surely show themselves in future releases in order to make this mod also for educational purposes. The all wise opinions are welcome (and remember: wise). I will not tolerate stupid comments and trolling. Any idea is welcome on replies to this comment.
Thanks. I'm doing my best, using all limited time and resources which I've got. Unfortunatelly, the big update is now matter of waiting.
Entschuldigung, ich habe schon bemerkt, dass du aus Österreich kommst. Es ist gut, weil ich Deutsch spreche.
TBD: To Be Determinated.
Don't worry about it. I'm keeping in touch with Skill1 and a few other modders, who allowed me to use a lot of stuff from their mods. I will try to import as many stuff as will fit in that submod, but I have to finish all primary stuff first.
Word of advice: If you want to express or show admiration for someone's work in english use other expressions, for example: good luck, I keep my fingers crossed, I wish you a lot of inspiration, make your best...''I love you''. Is not a good choice for that.
¡Gracias!¿Hablas español? (Do you speak Spanish?)
In the new version of ''The Moscow Gold'' called ''Behind the Enemy Lines'' we will play as a shot down German pilot from Legion Condor. Any advices or new German voice acting/importing from other games is welcome.
Our objectives will be almost similar: contact with nearby Nacional guerrilla squad, who had recently captured some supplies and weapons on the enemy somewhere in the Extremadura. Because or troops needs supplies urgently, our mission will be to deliver them to the safe place.
One very important historical info: in reality no soviet advisors took part in the transport of Moscow Gold in Cartagena (especially the fighter pilots). The mission itself was a top secret and no fight against Nacional troops took place during that the transport. The first soviet advisors have played an active part in the first weeks and months during defence of Madrid and arrived to Spain after Soviet Union recieved a delivery.
Classical M3 Stuart, American light tank. It was used mainly during the reconnaissance and as a fire support for attacking infantry. A few M3 Stuarts were sent to Tito by the allies (exact number of tanks remains controversial and more specifically: unknown and became a task of research and discussion among historians). Those tanks were the first units of 1st Partisan Tank Brigade, but some calling it ''Yugoslavian'' (and by the way: such brigade in fact never existed, it's numbers were too few for Brigade, but it was called such because of specifical conditions of guerilla warfare), which became 1st Yugoslavian Armoured Brigade after the war. Many former partisans who belonged to the armoured units in Tito's partisan army became officers and commanders in this Brigade. A lot of info on the internet about them is wrong or based on outdated sources.
Originally, during the counterattack on the hill of Pingarrón we had a chance to face the ''Brigada Lincoln'' (according to the mod files and AI Type used in original mod). First of all: there was no ''Abraham Lincoln Brigade'' in the Spanish Civil War. There was only a Lincoln Battalion (and later also Washington Battalion). American Volunteers were a part of XV International Brigade, they never created separate one. The ''Lincoln Brigade'' was just a slogan used by propaganda of CP in order to exagerrate the real number of Americans in Spain. Lincolns weren't also so well armed, as Triby was originally showing (assault troops with submachineguns), but their main weapons were usually Mosins and other types of rifles from Soviet Union, Mexico and in smaller number also from other countries.
Lincoln Battalion saw it's first action on 23th of February 1937, so it wasn't possible in reality to fight against them on 12th of February, when the mission is taking place, so I decided to change them into XI International Brigade and some French volunteers who were having a tough and bloody time during first moments of battle. It will make mission more realistic and historically accurate.
1. Because this submod is called ''nacional edition'' it means that it will show the war from perspective of only one side: just like original COD. I'm also busy with my work and life. Many of my supporters are also busy. Not everybody can be slikk1 and make a HCTM.
2. I hate such lack of knowledge ''nationalists (fascists)''. I suggest you to read any book about the Spanish Civil War before writing a stuff about it. You may not know it, but the fascists as such (Falange española) was divided from inside into three factions (left-wing; focused on social matter, Jose Antonio's followers and pro-german: national-socialist group which was a minority among those three and lost the fight for power inside Falange during WW2). Falangists as such were showing themselves as a movement ''beyond left and right''. Concerning the entire national camp as ''fascist'' is a nonsense. There were also other factions fighting among national camp: Requete: monarchists, Acción Española- conservatists and Spanish Foreign Legion (apolitical) without mentioning other groups. Anyone who calls the national camp ''fascist'' forgots to mention that also many political parties hostile to the fascism (like Requetes, who even had a fights against Falangists and others) were taking part in that war. Even Franco himself was not interested in fascism as such. Primo de Rivera, a Falange leader wasn't a Hitler enthusiast too (he understood the Mussolini's idea in his own way). Most of soldiers fighting for national cause were just people disillusioned by months of violence under the rule of popular front (not republicans, but the revolutionaries; many left-wing republicans wanted to stop the spread of a violence).
Here how Eleonora Tennant, a woman who visited the Spain desribed that: His [Franco] supporters are drawn from all classes and variety of parties(...)and all those who do not belong to any party, but who believe in law, order and decency. Eleonora Tennant- Spanish Journey, London 1936, p.103.
Let me quote the letter of a Irish Journalist Francis McCullagh: ''Not a Spaniard in my company who has not had a sister outraged, a father murdered under circumstances of indescribable barbarity, or a brother butchered because he was a priest, or a novice in some monastery(...)I spoke of the Spaniards who had come from Red Spain and from foreign countries to fight under Franco(...).One was a Dominican novice from Asturias. His novitiate had been surrounded, invaded, pillaged by demons in human form(...)and made the monks and novices dig their own graves''. Francis McCullagh- In Franco's Spain, London 1937, p.38-39.
Спасибо за первый положительный и осмысленный комментарий со смыслом из России. С наилучшими пожеланиями от автора!
It was just ''thank you in Russian''. Anyway, what is wrong is switching the entire campaign into that or another side? Spanish Civil War was a long, bloody and complicated conflict whose mythology lives until today. Due to it I decided to show the war from one of two sides who participated in it and expand the original mod in order to show the forgotten fronts and volunteers. This is my homage to them. Is this something difficult to understand?
Holy crap! I was tired after the entire the day of work, but this video lifted my spirit. I've never supposed that this mod shall be expanded into a such high level of realism and entire development! Damn, Antonio. Your skills are more than impressive.
I also hope that we will be able took part in assault on the hill protected with wooden/concrete bunkers, trenches and ambushes. This would unleash the entire potential of this mission. I guess that those pictures of bunkers, which you've posted before weren't published without reason, right?
Thanks, I know this mod. I'm also keeping in touch with it's maker. Mexican Revolution Mod is also a SP, as it shall contain some missions from that period.
I will consider borrowing some stuff from this mod, because Mexico was in fact the second most important ally of the 2nd Spanish Republic and third biggest exporter of weapons but I don't guarantee it.
Jajajajajaja!
I dunno. Maybe they are part of vanilla German axis AI, same as their skins. The best solution would be using a new German models and skins. It would be much easier to play with the new AI types and use them practically, just like in the ''Through Forests and Hills''. It will make modding much easier.
And don't worry, it's fine.I will send you a new PM soon with the link to this mission.
Hats down, Antonio. I'm sincerly amazed by the job that you've done with the mod. But can you use some German custom skins and models from B2F or HCTM? It will make the mod more realistic. I've also noticed that there were some Spanish Blue Division soldiers during the gameplay (those with Spanish coat of arms in the helmets). División Azul was called back from the eastern front in 1943 and never participated in battles in Yugoslavia. Can you replace them? It will make mod more realistic.
By the way: have you received my PM with the link to old, unfinished sp mission given to my by my friend? He agreed to allow you to modify it as you wish and use in your mod. Can you make that map as a mission for the Mihailovic's Chetniks?
All Quiet on the Western Front 1930 and 1997 versions, A Very Long Engagement, The Trench and some minor tv series found in other videos.
Dear followers and users:
Sorry for my lastest inactivity and lack of updates. I want to inform you all that when I will replace everything and make the 1.0 version playable, I shall release it immediately. There will be only 2 missions: taking alcazar and propably Melilla: The Day Earlier which will remain in their original form without new voice acting and all other stuff because they will be deleted in future updates.
There will be no new weapons, voices, flags, units, skins, missions in the 1.0, but with the help of my mates I will be able to import all things, which I need and then release 2.0 version, which will be (hopefully) the final release.
I want to thank sincerly to all who support me till that moment. Due to lack of help and some bugs I cannot do everything now.
Best regards to all, nieznanywydawca.
The numbers are task of discuss. According to German historian Karl Ries and his book Legion Condor no more that 600 German soldiers served with Franco at one time. It was highest number at time. Most of soldiers were Spaniards in Franco's army, including Foreign Legion. The same with Italian CTV. The number of foreign volunteers from Italy was highest in 1937, considering 10000 soldiers in the entire Spain, who arrived. Soviet Union provided better tanks and aeroplanes and soviet advisors, who trained Spanish Republican Army in order to give the best support they could.
We don't know what will happen, it's alternate history. The theories would be even the craziest.
That's true. The presecutions of Jews started after German intervention in 1943. Many conservatists and socialists joined fascist party after Mussolini's march on rome. Mainly communists were persecuted. After that some left and right wing parties were divided internally: to cooperate with Mussolini or no.
Interesting fact: Franco had agreed for roman salute, but only shouting ''Long Live Spain or Arriba Espana'', otherwise it was considered a crime. Franco's army considered also monarchists, conservatists who were sceptical to far-right, but Falange dominated the political scene because it's program was attractive to both left and right wing elements. During one of his speeches Franco admitted that nor the proletarian fist nor the roman salute was a simbol of politics, but heart who loved Spain and shout ''Arriba Espana'' (see: Murray A. Speber- And I Remember Spain. Spanish Civil War Anthology).
Good luck with that. I keep my fingers crossed for your mod!
Sorry, but you're wrong. Franco would win the war without support of Hitler and Mussolini, but both sides knew that war would last much longer without foreign intervention. The arms were the main problem. Spain, as such wasn't the fascist state. It was something like authoritarian state, but not totalitarian. If we compare it to Germany the citizens weren't peresecuted due to their skin colour or believe. They were also able to buy foreign press and were more liberal according to the economical politics.
Spain was politically divided inside the Franco's camp, but most of his adivisers and Franco himself favorised neutrality. Playing ''cat and mouse'' with Hitler was only possibility. There was also a pro-axis faction, but after failed coup in Salamanca in 1937 Franco considered pro-German politicians are dangerous to Spanish independence and national's wealth.
I know about División Azul, it's interesting story. They were anti-communist but not pro-nazi. Many of former volunteers were critical due to politics of Nazi Germany in occupied zone.
Spain avoided being a puppet in foreign hands during the civil war. Unfortunatelly, Republic had fallen into the Soviet hands after May Days in Barcelona in 1937 because of internal divisions. Franco's Spain avoided that pityful fate. The Republic after 1937 was more communist that Franco's Spain fascist during it's entire existence.
And don't worry. I'm sure that you will due with everything well. True. A few Senates would be interesting: United Nations, Comintern and Anti-Comintern. That would be something great! Different storyline for each faction.
Fantastic job, guys! I really appreciate your entire job. Just one thing: Spain wasn't the ''axis powers faction''. Spain was neutral during the WW2, because of economical problems and devasted country after years of political instability and civil war. The Axis-Spanish diplomatic relations were very complicated.
For example: Franco decided to negociate a economical support from Germany and abolishing the embargo on his country with Roosevelt at the same time. He also wrote letters to Churchill, who tolerated Franco's rule, but Mussolini warned him to not participate in WW2 because ''Hitler is a maniac...He demanded a impossible things from me...Now I'm at war and now I can only win or lose. There is no turning back for me''. Hitler demanded to attack the Giblartar and cut the allies from mediterrean sea, but Franco answered to Hitler ''I don't know what can I achieve by conquering this piece of rock''. Eisenhower, as a president of United States said during conversation with Franco many years later that without his politics the ''Operation Torch would be impossible to succeed''.
Anyway, it would be interesting choice for player in this campaign: stay neutral, join allies or axis. At last, it's a game and we can change history!
True. I wish you a lot of luck too. Now I'm finishing the Paschendale video and I hope to release it soon.
Fantastic work! Those skins are really impressivelly made and historically accurate.
I can recognise the SS Handzar Divsion (made of Bosnian and Croatian muslims), Domobrans, Ustashe's front-line troops, but I don't know that character in the background with green uniform.
So, we have the Tito's Partisans, Ustashe's and now only Chetniks are remaining.
I really like the mission, but in my opinion it's too short. The player should have an opportunity to explore the entire map. That communicate that ''they've spotted you'' became a little bit annoying for me. Enemy can just attack us and start shooting. There is also a problem with enemy: some Ustasa's haven't got the pistols or any kind of secondary weapon. I've also noticed that some of killed enemies had default weapon model because of it.
You can always add a new objective to meet with the partisans and recapture a village with them, find the intel, repel enemy counterattacks and then run away from village and away from overwhelming enemy forces.
The mod is fantastic! I've always dreamed of such total war in WW2 era!
I've got a question: are you going to make a few small improvements, for example: (6-12 turns) per year, adding new factions or new date of campaign's start? What about 1933 when Hitler camed to power? Some less known conflicts like Spanish Civil War 1936-1939, Defence War in Poland 1939 or Winter War 1939-1940 could be a great addons.
And a few hints: nazism isn't ideologically the same as Fascism. For example: in the Fascist Italy Mussolini never allowed for large-scale ethnic purges, like those commited by Croatian Ustashas. Sometimes Italian soldiers even protected the Jews from their opressors in occupied Yugoslavia! He told once that everyone can be a citizen of Italy if he will remain fully loyal to the country. A few new political systems can also be great, like autocracy, fascism, conservatism or socialism.
If you wish, I can prowide some info support. Greetings to the entire team.
Fantastic job! Even if it's early version, I'm really impressed by the entire work that you've made right now. The mission is very well-made and what's most important: very creative. It's hard to find such scenario in ww2 games. It would be nice if the mission will be quite longer. I will keep my fingers crossed for you and for this mod till it's final release.
I can only say: Carpe Diem. Enjoy the today (one of the few translations of that phrase), because the entire WW2 in Yugoslavia team deserved that.
Panzer I tank is a SCW skin for Panzer II. Panzer II was used during that war, but in lesser numbers. Anyway, I will consider adding it somehow, but it is a matter of future.
BT-5 was a troublemaker, because it was breaking down easy in the climate of Spain. It was also very easy to destroy it using molotov coctails or home-made satchel charges with 5-10 kg of explosives.
Fantastic job and congratulations! You can also import the some models of civilians from SCW mod.
Thanks for kind words. I doubt that any of those new maps will appear in 1.0 version, but I will keep adding them in the future updates.
