I haven't tried 8 player games, but I've found that CSM AI consistently fails to function in newer versions of the mod. I haven't tried Tau AI (which I've seen mentioned elsewhere), so I can't comment on that.

I've found that reverting to version 2.0.9 fixes the AI along with the SOB beeps (though I still do get some beeps elsewhere), so maybe try that?

I'm getting a LOT of high-pitched beeps when SOB are in a game. Not sure if that's the mod or on my end; if the former, are there any plans to fix?

That aside, awesome mod, both in terms of gameplay and presentation. I can't believe I didn't get into this one sooner :D

Maybe try Advanced Campaign? It isn't a straight adaption of tabletop (it uses 5-man marine squads rather than 10-man, for instance), but it does feel very lore-friendly.

Well, I'm sure Nikasik could answer better than I can, but weapons here are actually quite different from vanilla. The main point is that the mod goes for realism over the soft/hard counter system: if a weapon is effective against a give armour type, then it is also effective against 'weaker' armours. This makes stuff like rocket launchers and lascannons downright deadly vs infantry models, though they're still ineffective vs hoard armies due to having a low fire rate.

As for the flamer, its damage (at least for SM and sisters) is a LOT higher than in vanilla DOW while also still doing good morale damage. So whereas vanilla flamers were largely just for depleting morale, flamers in this mod can wreck whole squads by themselves.

Honestly, flamers in this mod already seem WAY better than in vanilla (and nigh-necessary in certain matchups, such as playing SM vs IG). I think they're still rather weak for slugga squads, but then sluggas are mostly melee units anyway.

Well, in general, the races are rebalanced rather heavily from vanilla and feel a lot more lore-friendly, which the mod's description doesn't even hint at. Concerning incorrect tooltips, all the ones I've noticed have been for alternate versions of existing units: scouts, guard squads, hellfire dreds, and so on. In all cases, the alternate unit simply has the same tooltip as the original, thus requiring a bit of trial and error to tell apart.

At any rate, it's a really fun mod and I expect that I'll keep going back to it for some time yet. Great going!

This is a truly awesome mod, and I've been having great fun so far with the Tarturus and DC campaigns. I do think the mod would benefit from better documentation though: the mod's summary drastically undersells the amount of changes, and several in-game tooltips are just flat out wrong.

Regarding grot cannons: these can be countered by basically any other race's artillery. Even thunderfire cannons can clear 'em out without issue. Not every race has artillery, of course, but still.

Is there any chance of you adding optional HP modifiers in later versions of this mod? I've been having a real blast with this, but I can't help but wonder how the mod would feel if units were a little beefier.
