No worries about the questions. Though if there's much more that you want to know we should maybe take this to PM (to prevent thread clutter).

The WED clay we're using for scenery. The polymer clay we're using for parts of the characters that can be static (such as the heads and weapons). The oil clay we're using anywhere else that we aren't using those clays. We're still testing different methods for creating the character puppets though, so I can't help much there for now. We'll most likely post another article like this once we've perfected a system.

Yeah, I've really enjoyed using it so far. A big step up from the only slightly wrapped low level socket stuff I've used before.

We're using three different clays depending on the situation. For this stuff we're using WED clay, and I think the only maker of that is the Laguna Clay Company. For soft oil clay we're using Van Aken brand. For polymer oven-hardening clay we're using Sculpey.

Haha, yup. Like I said, it's definitely inspired by the old clay games of the 90s. Along with the Neverhood, Clay Fighter, and Skullmonkeys (the neverhood sequel) are two that have no doubt inspired us as well. Thanks.

Thanks. Would you happen to know the name of that app? Just curious.

It's going to be entirely animated in clay, characters included. We're still perfecting the puppet creation process for that though, and will no doubt post about it once we've made significant progress. But in short, everything is going to be stylized. Check out the main Clay War images page for some character concept art. Thanks.

No, all the stages are pre-built (but like I said, there's possibility for user maps down the road a ways). It's possible that some slight building functionality will be added, but it will be minimal and combat oriented (rather than pausing to build and then playing).

Haha, yeah, it is a lot of work. But so far we think it's going to be worth it for the super unique look that the game is going to have. It's kind of a retro look, inspired by some the clay games of the 90s, but with all modern technology, of course. And yes, clay is much more my medium than things like 3D modeling or pixel art.

Thanks, glad you like it.
