Ok, so I don't see this being a huge and widely looked at blog but I'm going to start it based on the fact that it will keep me occupied in the mean time and it's fun.

Introductions:
-My name is George Seng. (For those who automatically assume I'm an Asian, it has become an annoyance and so I'm pointing out now that I have NO or very minimal Asian heritage. In fact my most consistent of race in me is German and Irish.)
-I am an American
-I am the lead story designer for Phoenix Wars
Ok, introduction done, I think. Anyway let's jump into this thing.
How I currently feel about Phoenix Wars? It's a work in progress, but from day one till now it has come a long way. We recently got a new engine and we improved the lighting, looks great. However I'm not part of that section of the game design, though I would be if I had a better PC. I finally played the multiplayer Alpha at where I would call 'the house where my "boss" lives.' It's really fun and separate from some of the more celebrated gaming titles out there. I'm sure those who read this can think of a few FPS style games that meet the title of "celebrated" to say the least. The Phoenix Wars multiplayer struck me as very unique at my first hand experience. It's fast, not very weapon centered, (meaning that you don't need the "rockets" to win, though they are fun) and I kind of had a good laugh every time I died, which just means I was having too much fun to care about me totally losing to the computer at a "free-for-all" type game list.
Things we should keep:
-Similar weapons- The weapons I used in the Alpha version were NOT original weapons, though we are trying to make some that play out in a like manner I believe, but with a more "modern-ish" spin of a few of them?
-Maps with an abundance of cover- The running in the game is really fast (P.S. tone it down A LITTLE bit) and with a lot of cover it makes it easy for one to evade oncoming fire and turn a 1v1 battle around on the attacker.
Things to lose:
Well, I can't really name any one specific thing I already haven't so at this point it would just be that we need to update the weapons further and decrease the motion slightly to make it more realistic, and I use the term "realistic" very lightly when being used toward a false reality and non-realistic game formed by the inception of WW3 to us at Rotten Ross.

Ok! Now onto the story-line development! Woo!
Ok, so as far as the story goes we are not very far into the actually "campaign" section of the game. The story itself is still under development anyway. We are currently working of the first ten minutes of game play, which will not be used as some sort of demo I believe because it would just be more or less a lot of talking and walking and it's just not a very good representation of the game play other than a few tutorials I suppose. Anyway, I plan of grinding out some more scripts for the gaming sequences and getting the story to move a little farther past this so instead of figuring out exactly where we are we can focus on where we are going. After building a concept for this part of the game we think we know exactly how this should happen. The focus on this moment of the game because it's the purpose of the main characters struggle and cause is all revolved around this particular moment of the game. In other words, for him it's kind of emotional and life changing.Anyway that's just about it for this first post. Be sure to check in for more, there will be a link to this blog in the Phoenix Wars news section. Be prepared for further updates and dev. notes. =)
