This about the Q2 source archive sounds interesting. I am the author of the Amiga-Version of Quake 2 and am still lacking the source-code of some important Q2 Mods (on Amiga all Mods need to be recompiled, as Amiga cannot run x86 code, it uses a PowerPC CPU).

I already recompiled dozens of Mods (and got their sourcecode).

Maybe you can help me out on some where I am still lacking the source-code.

Thanks in advance.

Here is some information on the Amiga:

This is the Amiga x5000, the most recent system, based on a 2.2 GHz PowerPC and a ATI Radeon 3D Card (other cards can be inserted, but for Radeon the best driver support exists): Amigaos.net
And here about the operating system, AmigaOS 4, by Hyperion Entertainment (over 10 years ago, I worked for them, ported games like Quake 2 and Heretic 2 to the Amiga and Sin for Linux): En.wikipedia.org

Hi!

Is the source-code of the "Dawn of Darkness" Q2 Mod/game still available to you and would you be in the (legal) position to share it ?

I am the author of Quake 2 for AmigaOS, and would like to do a port of it to Amiga (note this is not the old "Amiga 500", but a much more recent system - the Amiga x1000 has been released I think around 10 years ago, with the followup Amiga x5000 only a few years ago, it is basically a PowerPC system (like those old Macintoshes) using ATI Radeon 3D Hardware with it's own operating system.

To run Dawn of Darkness it would need a recompile (it does not run x86 code). Assuming it is just a new game.dll the code-changes would be minimal. Some static's (for example in g_items.c) need to be removed, a makefile needs to be generated, and if there is code which relies on Little Endian architecture this would need to be modified to support Big Endian architecture (the PowerPC CPU used by Amiga hardware is Big Endian).

I could do a port if I get access to the source-code. Alternatively I could guide on what code changes are needed and provide a cross-compiler which runs on Windows (using cygwin).

I am reachable at tirionareonwe@gmail.com

Here you find some information on AmigaOS 4: En.wikipedia.org
And here on the used hardware: Amigaos.net

Thanks in advance.
