UnReal World

Game review

I've been playing this game since 2010, that's almost a decade of entertainment with constant free updates!

The game itself has been in development since the early 90s, and has come a long way since then.

The game is similar to the Dwarf Fortress adventure mode, except that instead of taking place in a fantasy universe, it tries to accurately simulate what it might have been like to live in iron age Finland (with some liberties taken in the naming of tribes and geography).

Everything from weather conditions, seasons, wildlife, hunting, trading, crafting, farming, and even the animistic religion of the ancient Finns, has been included so far.

Basically, it's a highly detailed, and very addictive, survival rogue-like. Expect to die a lot in the beginning. As with many rogue-likes, the learning curve can be tough.

The developer has very ambitious plans for the future of his project, and I'm eager to see where this goes. Even though the game can be downloaded for free, I decided to become a supporter on his website, and also buy the game on Steam, due to the dedication he shows to the continued development of this wonderfully unique gem.
