I just tried changing the graphics settings using the graphics settings form didn't seem to apply properly for me either. I must have forgotten to update this when I updated the game. Try downloading the new version from here: Dream-forever.net Put it in the same directory that contains the Didgery.exe.

On a further note, I get a black screen when I attempt to launch the game at 640x480 resolution. The window opens with a 800x600 black window. Setting the resolution to 800x600 launches in a 800x600 window but with visuals. Once you download the new version you may want to play around with the resolutions to see if you can get a visual.

Have you had any prior version of Didgery installed on your system? If so, the game may have loaded a file formatted for an old version, which may explain why it is opening at the lowest possible settings. There is code in place to convert the old format into the new, but, you know, bugs creep in here and there.

I'll try and track down the cause of this bug something this week.

Do you hear any sound? What sort of graphics card (both integrated and dedicated) is your machine running?

Hey, I'm always happy to make Didgery more accessible and less annoying :) It looks like Desura has just OK'ed the update, so you should be able to download it soon.

Hey Shaori, I've uploaded a build that gives you the option to turn off the noise filter. You should be able to download it as soon as Desura OK's the exe I uploaded.

Thanks for your input Shaori. I'll add in that option as soon as I can.

This appears in Zen Mode actually. Performing an explosion next to this evil diety unlocks Nightmare Mode.

LotusGames - - 27 comments @ Didgery now available on IndieGameStand

They advertise achievements among other things (https://www.indiedb.com/development), but I have been informed that their API is not yet ready for use.

Thanks again for all your support, it means so much :)

You captured the feeling of running excellently. And the atmosphere is perfect. Parts of it sort of gives me an Alan Wake vibe. I want to play it.

Hey!

The stats screen will still be around, but it will be accessible from the main menu instead of popping up during the game. I'm thinking of using a simple wood texture or something at the moment, as the bright orange just doesn't fit. I would also like to eventually add in global leader-boards for stats, though it may be two or three iterations down the road before I get this added in. I think it would be cool to compare your longest chain, survival length in Nightmare Mode, etc. with other player's of Didgery.

Nightmare Mode still has the storyline as before, though the parchments appear only within Nightmare Mode. Zen doesn't have the storyline or Didgery Summon, as it sort of takes place at a different time in the made up history of Didgery.

Another thing I really want to add in is more RPG elements, like crafting armor pieces or magical artifacts that can be equipped to the elements. Maybe this is a bit too much, but I'm very much drawn to the idea.

The mode you mentioned sounds neat! I'll have to keep it in mind and implement it in the future. You will get a spot in the credits of course :)

Thanks, that really means a lot. I actually contacted Desura about a year and a half ago to see if I might be able to release it on their platform, but I was rejected with the statement that 'our users aren't interested in card games.' Perhaps I should try again, making it clear that Didgery is more of a puzzler and less of a card game?

Yup! I'm working on bringing Didgery to IndieCity, Desura, and Indievania. I'll be posting more details as the time draws nigh!

LotusGames - - 27 comments @ How can we lower game piracy?

The 'people will buy games if they were cheaper' argument is pretty thin in my opinion. iPhone and other mobile games are dirt cheap but piracy is still crazily rampant. I think it really just boils down to a lack of empathy. On average it seems that people just don't think what sort of impact their actions are going to have on other people, especially on the internet where everything tends to be abstracted. It might also have some root in that a pirate may not grasp the scale of damage they do as a group, instead thinking of their actions as a single occurrence.

Personally, I never pirate a game. I feel that it is morally wrong to do so. If a game is too expensive when it comes out, I just wait for a few months until the price drops to something I can afford.

Thanks for the interest! I'll have to see how well Didgery does on the XBox Live Indie Channel. If it does pretty well that I will see what my chances are of getting it on Steam :)
