Solid mod overall. I left a review for the game describing my experience. I do sincerely hope the game sees more coverage and play.

Posted a review, in short, it's worth a shot for sure. It's a pretty good time, and for being their first submission, there's a ton of polish and care put into it, you will not be disappointed.

Just what in the flying hell is this mod supposed to be, a parody, something serious? I have no words atm except, christ, I don't know what to expect.

I recommend the .exe install if you're having a difficult time figuring out where to place the file at (there's always a readme contained with most mods, it should give you better instruction then I could since everyone's system is different.)

This is arguably, one of my favorite mods already, and mind you, I haven't had a good time since Afraid of Monsters and Crack Life. Provided, I'm pretty behind on Half Life modding, I still need to play a lot of them, but from what I've seen, and the love that was clearly put into this mod, I don't think I could possibly describe my first experience playing this, but I'll do my best. Spoilers for those who haven't played it, if you're looking to see if it's worth your time, lemme give you the short answer: Yes. Yes it is, what the hell are you doing looking this comment, go and play for yourself.

The mod itself has one of the best atmosphere I've seen, haven't had this much fun exploring every crevice of the map since mods like Underhell from the Half Life 2 modding community or Cry of Fear, both specializing and being very prolific action horror mods. The way the Scientists and Security mesh together, the fun side easter eggs you can find, along with the charismatic HEV Barney make you enjoy their presence, even if it's only for a short time. I was genuinely mad when he fell to an ambush set up by the HECU, thinking he was Gordon Freeman because of the HEV suit he was wearing. Alongside the mysterious aliens, the Kingpin's interactions, and G-Man's influences all pulling you apart, only leaving uncertainty and despair as you further progress along in the story.

Throughout the playthrough, you'll see certain events play out, some I won't spoil for the sake of keeping a surprise (apologies for the HEV Barney by the by, but I couldn't help but mention him). The game will certainly keep you actively looking around and watching your back, the sound design being the best you can make it with the GoldSrc engine, and I had my moments where I was legitimately spooked and ran away from a fight rather than engage in it. The sense of vulnerability your character has is only strengthen by the fact you easily take damage, and your armor will only stay with you for so long. So be sure to think smart and play smarter when you engage with any enemy, even your basic zombie, in which some of them were given a much needed update to sounds and animations. The HECU and the Black Ops you encounter will surely poised a major threat, and the Gargantua that chases you throughout the entirely of the game reminds you that you are only human, as he will chase you and do everything in his power to only hamper your progress.

My only gripe I may have with this mod is I wish there was more than what there was, 9 Chapters is great and all, but some of those are arguably too short or are mainly story driven, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. And some things within the story aren't given much explanation, such as who exactly are you? How are you connected with two very important characters whom I will not mention? The questions aren't truly answered at the end, and you're only left to wonder and imagine (though many would believe it's certainly the end, something else is in play here.) IF the difficulty could be slightly tweaked so you don't die so easily when the occasional ambush happens, it would feel slightly better. I do understand the point of making you weaker is to emphasize that this is as close to realism as you get, but the game will absolutely punish you for going in unprepared, so be prepared to quicksave and fail a lot potentially before you succeed.

Overall, I will be giving this mod, a 10/10. Perfect scores aren't usually given unless you have been excessively kissing the mod's *** or in a ironic sense, but this was honestly one of the best Half Life mods out there. I don't think I could ever have the same expectations for future projects after this. After years and years of countless mods being released, this certainly stands up there with the best of them. I hope the mod author and his team continue with whatever endeavors they have in the future. I can't help but hope they come out with yet another ball park hit.

Truly I was in for a masterpiece of a story and the game when I start to see OPEN WORLD GAMEPLAY plastered among the walls of the arctic setting, displaying a great sense of IMMERSION and implicate understanding of the aesthetic that the modern era has brought forth for gaming.

The story was breathtaking as we first start our adventure in the middle of absolute nowhere, showing us how empty we were inside without this game's creation. As we progress along the icy landscape fighting off hordes of snowlions, we finally reach the Combine outpost. But a hunter chopper suddenly appears in the distance, and we're forced into a retreat. The struggle to dodge the antlion and the hunter chopper pursuing us truly gives us a sense of struggle our protagonist feels as we run closer and closer to the next outpost.

Finally, when we get inside and we finish off any remainder of the combine forces in the facility, we finally see him. Freeman, world savior to everyone else but us. He was the one who took everything from us. We approach him, but not before he lets us know he knew we were coming. After a short monologue, it feels like time was frozen, moments later, we died of unknown causes and left buried in the snow.

What happen was DIO!? YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR THE ONE FREEMAN, BUT IT WAS I, DIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have peered into Old Punt's face and I understand our overlord's troubles. I wish there was a spoiler tag or something, if there is, I'm too PTSD induced to use it at this point, so I'll leave a space and hopefully the space isn't removed.

We fight our way through a familiar setting for those who are aware of his past, a nice little call back to when it was just single map projects to a new setting, we finally see our precious car after some time, and we use it to make our way to where Box&Rocks; is scheming to do now. After braving a treacherous mountain, we are given subtle warning is what is to come, the music gets darker and we are made aware that something is wrong. But we carry on forward, as we are determined to stop Box&Rocks;. We get to the top to see him with all the presents, and it appears he tries to stop us, until we see a familiar face take him down instead. He monologues us, telling us he's tired and we should stop torturing ourselves. We ultimately do not know the fates of the presents or even Box&Rocks; before we are brought back to the beginning, except nothing seems right, and the world is being torn apart by the seems. We were given subtle indications that something was off, but we dismiss it as the mod being clever, but the reality of it was, the mod was warning us of what was to come in that bathroom on the way to the castle.

As we explored a familiar setting, static is seen along the walls and we only hear the voices of the NPCs in the area, even our familiar friend is glitched and sinking into the ground. Eventually after progress further into this nightmare. We finally see it, a poster. It states PTSD Part 2: Old Punt, before the game unravels and destroys itself.

Something I could only gather from my observations, it shows us the signs of our Lombax overlord PTSD levels, and we should wait patiently for our title. If it ever comes to conception. Appreciate the gifts we are given and not to vilify Box&Rocks; for everything he has done, as he is human. There is only one thing true in life, and that is Old Punt. The nightmarish landscape is a view into the bastardized and devastated mind of our overlord; as the world burns, so does his. In short, if our Overlord is telling us to chill, you should respect the wish. We will soon see the presents on the top of that mountain, but until then, enjoy the small things in life.

If the following was wrong, well, ****, I tried.

**** man, I remember when I first seen your content on Gmod Via Ghosthunt, and I'm like, "****, this dude knows what he's doing, he's gonna go on to do something pretty damn great. 2 more very enjoyable ghosthunt maps later, and you release a full fledged mod. I had a lot of fun with despite the difficulty curve with some stuff, there were many niche and interesting concepts into play that I wished got used more, such as the stealth system, which I think if you used that in the right setting, you could reward smart players with a cache or to revert the rebel turrets against their Rebel oppressors. Nonetheless, a great mod. I hope to see more from you.

This experience was a fulfilling and enlightening insight on my crippling depression and osteoporosis. I realize now there is more to this life time than ever imaginable before. It feels as if a window has been opened and the light of life has shined unto me, burning the darkness of my cold heart.

11/10 Just enough water. But srs, we need a trilogy now. So that way, it'll be like the cool kids mod. And shiet.

I'm still trying to get this to work, with the 2013 version, it's saying there's no launcher and I've tried all the fixes. I finally get a good computer to run this and now I can't because there's no known way to fix it.

For anyone curious, it's failed to launch, the specficed module cannot be found on all of them. So I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I have all the Half Life 2 games, all the Source SDKs, everything has been verified and any bootups I needed to do was accomplished. Every mod I have like Underhell, Nightmare House 2, and Divine Comedy all work without a single problem, yet for some dumb reason, no one has a single ******* clue on the forums on what to do. Anyone got any ideas?

It's an Alpha, I think he's just using it as a placeholder for packs of batteries. It takes time to figure it all out, especially considering it's not a very large team working on this game thus far.
