forgive me and humour me "You are back" - I am, and I'm sorry ive been away so long, I wont go into too much detail, its been hard. and then suddenely got ALOT harder, but i'm most certainly am back.
One thing I will say (and No Apologies) is that I have ADHD and VERY PROFOUND Dyslexia, Since I had Covid back in 2020 I cannot focus at all, TO THIS DAY even typing out a reply to this takes me ages!! my brain fog was SOOOOOOOO bad i could not even comprehend sitting in front of a computer.
So My main work is VERY practical and was completely locked down to me and I was unable work (My main reason to even look at coming back to this industry back in 2020). I Had to turn my attention to something else I could do from home, and as I was a technical games artist for many years, I needed a portfolio but had no current portfolio (Not worked in industry for over 10 Years) to show my ability to attain work. I decided to look at older game engine (Idtech 4) and things just progressed.
This is where we are and Its become FAR more than just a portfolio peice. this has to be finished! my Swan song so to speak. I AM VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT GETTING THIS DONE!!!

Ok Guys thank you for all the positives, lets get things movin again over the next few weeks! I'll start slow to get some momentum in my motivation and I'll work on getting the weapon models finished, I think I need to break down the project into stages as every time I picked it up over the last year I was absolutely boggled by the scale of what I was trying to achieve. But I have procrastinated long enough.
First thing I need to work on is going back and revisiting my process for getting things into the game, retrofitting brand new models into the old engine and getting them working isn't as easy as it sounds lots of extra steps. I'll stop by in a few days and update.

Well it a lot slower than I'd like, I'm not able to work on it all time like I could in lock down. I haven't been able to focus lately (possibly covid related typically) quite a bit of the old Brain Fog along with streaming allergies like never before. Its not that I haven't been working on it but more I can't seem to produce anything I like. Forgetting tool functions and hot keys. Argh
We're pretty sure we had it (Covid) while back with me very mildly, but my wife in bed for around 3 days any way my point is I just cannot concentrate on things. Its incredibly frustrating. Like the worse artist block I have ever had. Not my usual pace at all. Hence our suspicion. Anyway no excuses, I'm on it again. Slump or no slump I'm sure it will pass.
Im still working on it I just have had to take some time to get back into normal work life after returning out of lockdown. Dont panic guys its still in developement.
In theory the models should work though performance would be hampered, normal maps don't look right, due to incorrect tangent space, Doom 3 uses it own tangent space calculated on first install and run, not miktspace so things look off. I think that's why most Doom 3 mods have seam and normal issues. Performance limitations mean things might get choppy too but I think in most cases the models should be ok. Textures would need to be optimised all steps that will be done after initial release.
Ha it doesn't work on script alerted enemies anymore. Enemies that you chance upon, who aren't triggered are fine and they don't attack, but event alerted enimaies will still attack. Thanks though
his UV seams need to be done properly I just had to test him hes taken me all weekend to retopologise.
On contrary thank you AidenDemon I'll take it as a compliment but modern ID are all cartoonish in proportions now I don't think they would take a more horror approach anymore, its not 'Present' ID

I think ammo was never a concern in the vanilla d3 ammo crates for chain gun were big but there was no thought in original model as to how the bullets actually got into the chamber? Wtf
Nope not happy with this yet. Texture is too small on gun too much difference in specular and metalness. I have a new version of this model in tomorrow
Actually the hand I just a holding flesh material with no texture try and ignore it for now I will re texture this later.
As long as normals are baked properly with NO smoothing on mesh otherwise it can believe me cause lots and lots on trial and error.
