I believe that anything that upgrade graphics in a wide sense (sky, weather, lighting,weapons, nature, animation, etc.) is always good.
But you should be given the right to choose.
So a 1st pack with only tweaking to get close to SOC should be a base.
Then maybe some other pack with better graphics.
Or at least patches to already existing graphics overhaul.

You said there would be not HD models to look like good old SOC.
Even SOC got mods to upgrade textures while keepin the atmosphere.
As long as you keep the original style, hd textures are good things.
No new weapons, I agree.

if they stay close to SOC rules, the special weapons will be found during quests, or as rewards, or on special NPCs.

In x7 , after disabling security/turning off the earthquake machine generator,
the game freezes after each past reminiscence scene (like the scaning of the stalker to make the hostile hologram).
I can esc go back to the menu and even teleport, but even then I have no control over the character; no movement, no nothing.

I will answer myself then:
Reload the autosave game,
you must see kinds of floating lights when you enter the first room at the end of the hall.

in x10, I can't activate the security locks.
Any idea how to unbug that??

I recently tried to upgrade the "echo" artefact detector, the game crashed instantly (tried it 3x rebooting):

I talked to fox in the rookie village, I clicked on the detector, crash...
(any other upgrade on weapons works)

OK, so if someone never downloaded a two k pack before and only installs the two k pack 3, it is ok? He will have all the best textures? (including those released in the first 2 packs)

are the different versions incremented stackable files (two k 1 + two m 2 + two k 3)?
