My real name is Darren, or Daz for short, age 34 as of 2019 :P. I started out gaming when I was 7, first PC, Wolfenstein, Doom, and Duke Nukem 3D. Not a console in sight, and I never intend to use one. My love for FPS games grew as I grew older, mapping Duke Nukem 3D when I was a young boy, learning the ropes. Later came Unreal Tournament and the following series, my real increase in gaming was UT2003, which led me to begin proper mapping and playing European Cups with clans. I later travelled to London for the World Cyber Games 2001 Qualifiers, didn't make it unfortunately, always someone better, thats how gaming works. UT2004 was also Cups and Tournaments and also my mapping became even better over time. Now that UT has sadly died off due to the unfortunate events of UT4 being, well, abandoned, I moved to Quake Champions (Of course I played all Quakes before hand). I later discovered QC:DE, which began my interest in zScript coding.

Titanic: Whats Going On?

LAGI- Blog

So all these screenshots are appearing again! Has LAGI got his new system, no, not yet, but I do have UDB (Replacing GZDoom Builder (BugFix)), which has now been taken under the wings of ZZYZX and friends.

(They can be found @ Discord.gg).

Ok, so progress on the exterior being re-done...... going great!

This is the old design:

13091002842989199360_20191008043620_1.pn

To me from a Titanic lovers point of view, it didn't do it justice, it wasn't bright, it didn't look sexy, the scaling was completely off, the decks were no where near wide enough. The textures were dull looking, it just looked plain old boring.

I scoured around the old design in GZDoom, noting down all the problems, all the textures I had to replace, all the sectors I had to rethink, and most of all, the size, Titanic was famous (Quoting Mr Ismay) for its "sheer size" aswell as the luxury and the sinking.

With my notes on my desk, UDB ready to go, and the outline of the old design parked up next to where the new one is now, this was for referencing certain areas of which I had to make changes to on the new build, the old "outline" has since been deleted from the map file. (See below):

Top lines being the old one, bottom one being the new design, with curves! (The new design has been curved more and made longer aswell since this screenshot was taken)

With all this, I present, the Titanic Exterior 2.0 (Showcasing the work I have done on the bow, its the first detailing done so far):

I have learnt alot about detailing since I started the interior, the smoking room, first class lounge, and the reading and writing room. I thought it would be best to hone those new skills and completely rip away the exterior and start it again (All Interior is intact).

The project has now also been split into maps, so for example:

Titanic Exterior - MAP01

Boat Deck Interior - MAP02

A-Deck - MAP03

This direction of optimization was crucial for performance considering the sheer size of each deck, having all of it in one map would be insane.

These will all be accessible via doors of which you press "USE" on, and the map corresponding to the other side of that door will load up instantly with no intermission with the player now being on the other side of that door. I have tested this method with the doors in the Varendah Cafe, press "USE" on the double doors, you appear on the other side of those same doors, on the exterior map, on the A-Deck Promenade.

The menu has also had an overhaul, (the background will be changed once the new exterior is complete), it has new sounds, new menu graphics, and some Titanic facts instead of quit messages, so not only is this an eye candy project, it can also be educational for those who do not know much about the Titanic.

The cursor represents the logo of the White Star Line.

I may put points on each deck where you can press "USE" and some information might come up, like a newspaper article on the sinking, or some information regarding some of the high esteemed passengers who were aboard the ship.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and please, I appreciate all the support considering this is a one man army assault on such a huge project scale. Again, thank you all :).

Titanic Doom Planned Work

LAGI- Blog

Hello all,

Sorry for not updating people on here, due to my current PC build giving me the odd blue screen from time to time, I have decided to upgrade, I have several components for my new build ready to go, but due to an Ebay nightmare (or lack of seller intelligence), I have yet to source a CPU to go into the new system. Hopefully I will have this ready and built in the new year, once benchmarking and testing is complete to make sure everything works, I plan to re-commence the Titanic Project (with my side project Doom - Fidelity as a break when I do take one).

So please, watch the project's ModDB home page and discord for more updates on the system build, and I will let everyone know when the project is back up and running :).

Thank you

Titanic Doom's Progress

Hello all, not posted for a bit, work work work, over the passed few days I hit a snag over the design and implementation of the grand staircase pictured below:

13091002842989199360 20190921181

I have decided to completely delete the grand staircase from the current build due to my lack of experience with portals, because of this, making the corridors and entrances which span away from the landings can't be done due to infinite height of LinePortals, so I have opted to redo the grand staircase in its entirety so as to allow myself to manage my portals easier, making seperate sectors which are the size of the staircase landings and sector portalling between them at a later date.

With this, I can now concentrate on beginning work on A deck, the main location of 1st class cabins and private suites.

The grand staircase will be rebuilt possibly at the end of the build or nearly the end.

Titanic Doom Progress

LAGI- Blog

Hi all,

I plan to do a small blog every week or so, so here's the first of many.

At the moment I'm currently taking a small break from the project to play some wads, do some real life stuff etc, don't worry, the project is still going and will still be worked on once my break is over. At the moment I'm currently playing some megawads with 4x monsters and the QC:DE mod and my IMPressive Addon.

Hope you all have a great weekend and keep playing what ever you all play!

Regards,

LAGI.

Titanic Doom's Progress

PREVIEW1

As the reality living people will know, this is a big project, and no way will there be a chance of a full release anytime this year, let alone next year depending how much I get done over time. But a surprise may be coming for those of you who are eagerly awaiting some form of chance to try it out, in late October, I have some time off work, 1 week to be precise, and I will be dedicating a lot of time to the project over that week. In hopes I get enough done, I want to potentially release a small demo of some kind for Christmas, allowing the player to wander around a closed off part of the ship, will it be the exterior or the interior, only time will tell and what I get done.

Also, I'd like to take this time to point out a few things regarding the project. Due to the lack of photographic evidence of interior parts of the ship, and a lot of the pictures you find online are of the sister ship "Olympic" which was also one of White Star Lines larger vessels, a few, if not a lot, of the placement of objects, furniture, carpets, walls etc may be inaccurate. I try my best to find sources which are credible enough to provide me with evidence so I can make it as accurate as possible, from the light fittings, to the layout of chairs and plants etc.

I will still be, and always will be, sticking to my rule of no models, some people question this, but its my goal, my commitment, and my personal achievement.

I am very thankful to those who have taken interest in this project, and are continuously showing their support through comments and likes, whether it be here on ModDB, facebook, Doomworld, or Discord. It is a one man show, and it takes alot of time and effort to get this done, but it will be done, I won't stop until that last light fitting is put on the last room.

Remember, I do work for a living aswell, and even though there are no screenshots or news appearing, I am still working on the project in my spare time, the best place to get real time updates as I build is on Discord, as I post screenshots during and after construction of certain areas.

Please don't forget to support the project and/or view the projects progress at the links below, thanks a lot folks.
