"Full America" doesn't really make sense in the context of history. The mod's focussed on Europe and they had a joint allied command with the US, UK and commonwealth forces fighting together in all theatres.

No real date just a rough road map, the plan is to start a semi-closed beta in the next week or so but it's just for the Soviets, hence the focus on the reds in the news post. Full release will be hopefully in the Autumn some time.

Signup for the forums should also work now, although the theme is now broken and there's not much activity atm (which is reasonable)

Discord is cool for live chatting but it tends to bury info, so I think the forum is the better way to organise testing results.

Ground commanders had little control over ground attack aircraft and they were pretty inaccurate. Check the post war analysis of kill rates for tanks to GAA. It's pitiful. If anything the effectiveness of ground attack in Blitz is overplayed for cinematics!

It's also less micro-intensive to use this system and we are trying to keep the skill ceiling low for this release. It was getting out of hand, especially on the internal builds post R3. This is one of several areas where the gameplay is intentionally simplified.
It's not set in stone though. I agree that the Il-2 in particular is a bit of a special case. Overall getting that feel right is part of gameplay testing and can be reviewed during beta.

Fighters are built from airfields and are controllable, ground attack and strategic bombers are sidebar powers that you buy and use. Note that they don't cost specific generals points, they are just unlocked at the relevant tech level.
There's three reasons for this:
1 - The old system had an exploit where players could stack up unlimited numbers of ground attack aircraft and unleash them in one go.
2 - The control of GAA was hard for noobs and greatly increased micro load.
3 - This system looks really cool.

There is the will and desire to do a Starcraft2 mod with more advanced features but not the time or funds needed ;)

Yeah alternative start dates can be done with custom maps. I don't know how well balanced it would be though, the factions are designed to be ascendant at different tech levels and 1942/3 is definitely a point where Soviets are very strong with super-cheap T-34s and the upgrade to /85s.

Not that I know. I think Origin is some kind of DRM wrapper. You'll need to find out if there is a way to break games out of the DRM and run them standalone. The other option is to rename the blitz big files as .ini and overwrite your main game folder with them, that might work if Origin isn't fussy about core game file integrity.

I've only used Origin for Dragon Age 2 and it was a crashfest. GJ EA.

I'm old and senile so I don't remember what the R3 campaign was like. Did it have the D-Day mission with the Dora and naval bombardment bunker?
Neo has made loads of SP missions in the interim years, he's refining the best of those for the new release.

Yeah I would like some variation in infantry. Right now the engine rewards range a lot more than DPS so SMG infantry suffer quite a bit and I stuck with rifles for the Red Army soldiers.

All faction's infantry will feel similar right now. They have more HP than currently and are a lot more expensive and slower to build.
They can dig in which turns them into a pillbox and boosts their HP 500%. They can then be upgraded further to have a small minefield. Combined with AT guns they replace defensive buildings.

I know the Soviets loved the PPSh. Having a variety of mid and late game infantry that's specialised towards assaulting fixed fortifications would be neat. Right now using infantry offensively is a bit wasteful.

Other infantry types for the Axis would be cool too, maybe Volksturm as a late game defensive option and an StG44 upgrade to give their regular infantry more punch when attacking.

I guess overall the infantry gameplay right now isn't very complex but is radically different to what we had before. Once we have a solid handle on how it works we can think about ways to expand the concept and add some depth.

Well you get a cash and XP bounty on all enemy units killed so you have an incentive to raid the enemy and kill his soft targets. Obviously losing your own units gives him the same advantage.

Partisans are cool and I'd like to have them but we've struggled to find a good design for them. Spawning infantry anywhere was always a bit frustrating for the enemy player and it doesn't feel all that cool as a power.

All the factions are getting completely reworked. The models and textures are being updated and the code is either rewritten from scratch or heavily modified.
