If you followed my installation instructions, you overwrote your original ragdoll files (my bad). There are a couple of ways for you to get them back.

If you're installed through Steam, you might try deleting the "KarmaData" folder and then verifying the game's files through Steam. It should re-download the missing content.

Otherwise, I'd say you just need to re-install the game. I should maybe update my installation instructions to mention backing up the original files, in case anyone for any reason wants to use the original ragdolls again.

Sorry I'm never on ModDB! I'm absolutely fine with this, just give me credit for the original ragdoll work.

Agreed, very much so! But, alas, that investigation never panned out. The great trouble is that although Thief: Deadly Shadows uses a very similar Unreal engine, it does not use Karma physics.

To modify the Havok ragdolls in Thief would likely have required messing around with the 3D meshes for characters. Still a possibility; maybe someday I'll give it another shot.

It's been a long time! I just got done adjusting the center-of-mass for many parts of the UT2004 ragdolls. It's an update a long time coming, but I've been back into Unreal Tournament and tweaking the numbers again.

I think this latest release is a substantial improvement! Doesn't even look half bad without the mutator. :)

Yeah, I wish they wouldn't do the splits too often. The main trouble there is that I can't specify any "difficult" ranges for the joints, so I have to choose between very limber or unrealistically rigid bodies. I wish I could just increase the force required to reach certain positions.

As to the legs and arms, I assume this is just based on what you think looks right. The weights were adjusted with the help of an old NASA journal I found; all mass values are directly derived from scientific data on dismembered cadavers. Kinda gross, but I'm not inclined to adjust the values based on what "looks right to me." Besides, I haven't messed with these ragdolls in ages now.

I did go through many different iterations on the ragdolls in an attempt to avoid that splitting behavior, but ultimately decided personally that it was worth leaving in to accommodate other less ridiculous poses that become impossible when the range of motion for the legs is too far reduced.

Well, this makes me feel a little silly for starting a similar - albeit much smaller scale - mod for ZDoom. :S Best of luck!

No problem. I never honestly mind when people want to use my stuff, I just like finding out ahead of time. When I first saw this, I thought you were taking credit for my mod! :) I can see that you're not doing any such thing, though, just extending it. That's cool, and useful even, considering I haven't made Brutal Doom compatibility in a loooong time.

If anyone here is interested, the original Droplets has recently been updated for general/vanilla use. Forum.zdoom.org I (SidDoyle) have not been working on any Brutal Doom compatibility, so you may want to continue using this branch (which I did not authorize or even realize existed until today). To the author: Hey, I'm pretty much fine with this, you've given me proper credit and all, but you could have at least contacted me. :P

Just released my much more detailed work with Rainbow Six 3's ragdolls, so if you've got the game and want to see a massive improvement of its physics, look no further!

Glad you like it! :) Making ragdolls more realistic has become a bit of an obsession for me. If a game will let me into its ragdoll data, I will tweak it endlessly. Can't help my enthusiasm for physics and realism.

I'd love to do that, actually. I'm not entirely certain how difficult that might be; also, I've never heard of "slaughter." I'll have to investigate, but it's been awhile since I messed with this so I'm a bit rusty.

No problem! I have a bit of an obsessive compulsion to fix ragdolls in whichever games I can. I might make releases for Rainbox Six 3 and Skyrim at some point, too. :)
