AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? IT IS REMAKE 4.0 RELEASE DAY
And everything seems to be ready, thanks to our awesome team.
First, the final touches, as everyone does their thing, I've made time, and will give one final pass over our loading screen artwork, to include the great screenshots made in the past weeks. They deserve to be there. And the process will be streamed.

Adjustments:
--- Basic Rebel Quasar now comes with 1 ARC-170 (2) and 1 PT-1 (1). Cost increased from 2900 to 3600, pop increased to 8, attrition refund cost adjusted.
--- Asteroid fields now have a 80% lower chance of inflicting damage.
--- Nebulon B Frigate now carries 1 Z-95 (0), pop value increased by 2. The Imperial Warlord Nebulon B carries TIE Fighters instead.
--- On the GC map, a Day is now renamed to a Month.
--- All web way versions now start with 40K credits for the Empire, 20K for the Underworld, 15K for the Rebels, and 15K for every minor faction.
--- Coruscant, Yavin and Bespin now count as Systems, with 1 additional ground and space slot, and slightly increased income.
Balance:
--- Surface to space weapons are now locked to tech 2.
--- All regular proton torpedoes (not heavies and not starfighter-based ones) are now properly as accurate as they should be.
Previously this caused torpedo volleys to miss far more often than they should.
--- The Golan 3 now properly fires heavy proton torpedoes, that have a tendency to miss. If they do not miss however, they deal tremendous damage.
--- AI combat power of starbases now more in line with their power.
--- Flak cannons of the Sabaoth now nerfed, by about 40% of their firepower.
--- Rebel X4 gunship now equipped with Heavy armor instead of Medium.
--- MC 80 WL cost increased from 12K to 14K.
--- MC 80 cost increased from 16K to 17,5K.

Quality of life and Balance:
--- Now testing a mouse collision override value for all starships, to make them more easily selectable when hovering over. Will greatly benefit units like the DP-20, and reduce player annoyance trying to select small units.
--- Starfighter and Gunship based Medium and Heavy lasers now nearly pinpoint accurate.
Now higher tier units with stronger weapons are more effective against lighter units, creating a slightly greater contrast between higher and lower tier starfighters
This also has the side effect that units like the Arc-170 with heavy weapons feel more satisfying to use, as they hit their targets more consistently.
--- Turbolaser accuracy against gunships and corvettes has decreased.
Turbolasers were too powerful against gunships from a recent accuracy increase.
--- Golan upkeep has been tripled.
--- the Alliance Assault Frigate has been reworked from a super heavy tank, to a heavy tank, that carries three starfighter squadrons instead of missile launchers, carrying: ; 1 Cutlass-9 (2); 1 V-Wing (2); 1 ARC-170 (2)
--- the Marauder now carries a single squadron of Z-95 Hullcrackers for all factions, except for the Rebellion, which gets the superior Cutlass-9

Current Tech 1 rebel starfighter roster consists of:

T-wing light interceptor
Z-95 headhunter fighter craft
Z-95 hullcracker light torpedo bomber
Cutlass-9 torpedo bomber
U-wing support craft, now with fixed repair drones
PT-1 missile gunship equipped with high explosive missiles
ARC-170 assault starfighter.

Hopefully you all had an excellent start to 2022. As we're approaching the end of January the remake team has been very hard at work to cram as much content into the 4.0 release as possible, and today we continue that endeavor on stream with one of the final Hutt units, the multi role cruiser. We're going to finish its rigging, code it, do some miscellaneous stuff, and maybe play some Subnautica towards the end of the livestream. Come join us! Twitch.tv

Must say I'm a bit fan of the visuals of the Hutt units as well. With how prominently they will feature in the Underworld unit roster, there'll be plenty of opportunities to look at them as well, either when blasting them or when controlling them.

There is also a ridiculous amount of work being done right now to try and cram everything we can into the 4.0 release. If you have a look at the changelog channel on discord you'll see what I mean. The changelog channel gets only the bigger parts of what we're doing, and moddb gets a far smaller portion of that even.

The Hutt Darran-Tan Destroyer is now added for the Criminal Underworld as well as the Hutt Cartels minor faction.

The Darran-Tan Destroyer can be best compared to the Victory star destroyer, but smaller and slightly weaker. It has slightly less overall HP, but with powerful weapons.
It has the forward firepower of the:
Munificents Heavy turbolaser cannon,
one of the Providences broadside torpedo launcher,
Half the Victorys quad turbolaser damage
All in targetable hardpoints.
In untargetable weapons, it has a third of the Victorys heavy missiles, that also fire at a trajectory, and 1x the Victories frontal ion cannon.

While the Darran-Tan Destroyer is only around 750 meters in length, it packs a serious punch in both shield penetrating weapons, non shield penetrating weapons, and stunning ion cannons. However it carries no starfighters and cannot defend itself against bombers at all with its heavy weaponry. Excellent in combination with the Tarrada medium frigate, which can screen starfighters relatively well.

While it's a madhouse at remake HQ right now trying to stuff everything we can in before the release, the hutts are the last pieces of content that are on the "must include" list, and this is the third last ship.

At the moment there are 8 minor (unplayable) factions, in addition to the 3 main factions. The Republic remnant and CIS remnant are two of the minor factions. At one point, we'd like to do a mod dedicated just to the clone wars, but that is a way off yet, dispite the units and regiments being done.

So what's here, is the new camera angles in action. The camera is much more changeable, leading to both good gameplay angles as well as good screenshot angles. Though to be fair, all angles are good screenshot angles right now ^^

Alright boys, very unceremoniously, here's the announcement that we're shooting for the end of january for the 4.0 release. Or atleast have the last version of the alpha test out to the testers, which we'll let run for a week, and then into the release. Whatever the case, 4.0 will be out in february unless something truely disasterous comes up. After 4 months of testing and adding more content, we're confident that the experience is at the "good enough" stage, and we're now working on the final bits of content to be included.
