Its randomized now to make the need for fire control during the campaign. In the original game, bags of ammo for whatever guns you were needing ammo for would spawn everywhere and you never had to switch weapon unless you wanted to

You missed a step then. Its OK everyone misses this one.
After verifying your game. go into My Documents\My Games\ and delete the Aliens Colonial Marines folder.
Steam wont touch this as its not in the steam folder, and you have modded files in there ;)
Unfortunately sometimes the ai gets stuck, I have not been able to figure out the root cause after all the time so it still happens sometimes. Look out for xenos stuck on things and kill them to keep the flow going. In the hanger in level 1 for example they often get stuck either on the right drop-ship support arm, or near the vent on the far wall they spawn in from in the second wave.
Level 4 in operations though is a bit more unfortunate. There is a nav point outside the operations that they get stuck on, and you can't see it. You can avoid it by shooting and killing the xenos that come in through the top right area of the whole in the wall, so they dont go back out the way they came

That depends on how much you dislike the actual story and setting of the game. I think Ive made the actual gameplay fun and enjoyable but the story is unchanged

That would be because your looking just at the overview of the file. AND the file you chose was a bad one. core.upk has only alittle in it. Start with PecanGame.UPK
There are two areas of data : Tables -> Export Table
and Objects -> Contents
Your not going to open UPK files with anything other than Unreal Engine, or UE Explorer. Apps like File Magic arent designed for that type of thing. THey are more meant for looking at images and documents
ACM is built on Unreal Engine 3. the app you want is UE Explorer
You can completely skip 6.1 and just go with 6.2!
There is only one program for ACM. Unreal Explorer. If you go to the homepage of that app, there is a link to a basic tutorial for ACM modding
A new patch is out. Several people have tested this and confirmed the issue is resolved
I am really sorry about this. The game can be somewhat of a pain in the bum to work with. I believe I have it this time but Im going to get some of the testers on Discord to verify first before I upload here to ensure it fixes it this time for you all

This has not had a great deal of testing, unfortunately it is quite late and I wanted to get this out before heading to bed. I have tested it myself and these issues were resolved for me. Hopefully they will do the same for you!

Ammo caches are randomized so to begin with you will see ammo for weapons you don't have yet.
It sounds like the batch file did not run correctly and apply the fix. Copy the batch file from the zip into the game install and run it again (not as administrator!)
I have rebalanced them a little. they are still tough though ;)
This is a known issue, you can get passed it by lowering the graphics sliders in game up to the next checkpoint. This is an issue in V5 but not in the soon to be released v6
Lets just say you might want to pay them a little more respect now :P

You can safely change the settings in game if you chose the option in the installer, just keep in mind you may lose some of the additional graphics tweaks.
