So, any chance of getting this to work with HL2 Deathmatch? What would it entail? As a programmer, I'd love to try and help get it working if you are already working on this, if not, can you tell me where to start trying?

Most likely it wont actually download 7GB, alot of valve games advertise a much larger download size than they actually need, I think it does this because that would be the size if you had no other source engine games installed it would also have to download the engine, so if you have a source engine game installed already the SDK will be smaller than it says. Maybe 2 to 4 gb perhaps.
