SL is mainly used by people with no life to sext each other with their truly perverse fantasies. If you've ever palyed an MMO woth animal people or dwarves you know what I'm talking about, but this being SL it's a million times worse because thats all there is to do here.

I take it you have not noticed the rise of "Micro Payments" in games? SL was one of the first to introduce that crap as it was invented as a way to extract far more money out of customers instead of one time fee MMOs like Guild Wars or monthly Subscription games like World Of Warcraft. You can con people by nickle and diming them with small payments for in game items. The problem is though that this causes many of these games to become "Pay2Win" because unless you throw allot of money at the game you don't stand a chance against those that do or in the case of SL, can't do thevast majority of the interesting things in the game.

The only "Free2Play" game out there that got it semi right was Champions Of Regnum, since the only things that spending money on the game got you over free players was mounts that lasted forever with the same usage restrictions and penalties that hte free ones had as well as EXP booster scrolls to allow you to level faster then normal, but in doing so you where no stronger thensomeone who never spent one cent on the game.

No, you lose when you are spending real money in a game. In all games that do this that also have a free way to gain moey make it so time consuming to get that money that your only option is to start buying game money.

Take a look at League Of Legends, I've seen people not realize they spent $200 in a month on the damn game. Which is just unacceptable. The games are using a system similar to casino slot machines to trick people into spending very large sums of money for games that 10 years ago got by just fine wit subscriptions of $5-15 a month.

Or you could be creative in any real game with a modding system. Those games are typically a low one time payment and you can play forever.

Can't update game from auto-update servers, it connects downloads for a little while then crashes out, always starts the downloads back up from the beginning. This is the error:

ERROR: Failed to Update!

Could not download 'libs/libpython2.7.so.1.0' after 3 retries.

This error can occur if you have a poor internet connection or if other applications are using the internet. Try restarting the Updater to re-download this file.

Would you like to launch the application anyway?

Will you at least patch it so that you can install the game with the OpenJDK?

Any reason that this game REQUIRES the Oracle Java implimentation? Almost all Linux users that have Java installed use the OpenLDK instead of the Oracle version. Ods are that the game will work just as well on the openJDK but it refuses to install wihtout Oracle Java.

Without proper sound effects and BGM even the most moving scene is as bland and dry as a desesacated turd in the desert.

I've never had any luck getting this game to actually be PLAYABLE ever since I first tried the version in the repos of Ubuntu 5.04. Currently installing it on Mint 13 I can't access the game's settings menu as that crashes instantly, I'd rather not try to play the game again after reading the comments that apparently the discoverabiility of the controlls is still nonexistant after all these years.

I remember having to drop to a terminal to kill the game from the command line since after 5 mins of trying the game wouldn't quit via the GUI.

Fixed it, I had version 0.15 still installed form the repos. Removing it solved all problems and my save even moved over from it to 0.17!
