In theory, it should work on a Mac. However, since I have no access to any Mac hardware whatsoever I'm not able to test it properly. Which is annoying, but it can't be helped at the moment.

However, if you wanted to get the game running, it shouldn't take more than a bit of tweaking. Send me a message if you want to give it a shot.

Well, it's a Java game, so this isn't really relevant. It all depends on the JVM you're running - I'm not entirely sure if OpenJDK / OracleJVM have a native 64bit version.

Checkpoint saving is technically quite doable, but as you say, levels generally aren't set up in a way that makes it logical. The tutorial level is only segmented like that in order to show one gameplay element at a time without complicating things. Player-made levels complicate the problem even more, and they're a big part of the game's appeal.

That said, I could look into implementing a feature that allows you to jump a few seconds back in time upon death, that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Linux64 should be just fine, at least, it works without problems on my 64-bit Ubuntu. Not sure why it only shows 32bit in the sidebar.

I've heard from someone else that the game crashes on load for them, though it's not something I've ever seen before. Will try to sort it out as soon as possible, which might be tricky as I'm completely unable to reproduce this.

If you have a console.log/error.log file in your game directory, please post their contents in the bug report forum. Thanks!
