Really beautifully done mapping, curious to see how it goes. I don't really get "excited" for the release of things anymore though, I just look quietly look forward to when things get completed.

Well this was a nice surprise! I like to revisit the game every few years and find new compatibility headaches that need squashing. It's running, it's patched and now it's happily modded on top.

Slowly poking and prodding at this, finding new areas and exploring. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing, but honestly? I don't care. The feeling of discovering new places and learning the way around them is brilliant. It'll likely get frustrating as time goes on, but for now I'm just enjoying seeing these locations.

Only thing that I can grumble about is needing to shoot the switch towards the end of the first map to progress. The bulk of the interactions were based on observation of the environment, enabling, or disabling things. The shootable switch high up was an oddity by comparison.

Absolutely beautiful mapping. The different themes of lighting combined with the texture choices to make each area distinct, but combine together. As areas would overlap and interconnect it made the locations feel much more real and believable. Luring enemies into hazards to save ammunition was a really nice inclusion as well. It has that feel of what Doom 3 could have been if it had leant more towards the survival side of things.

I remember there were issues with limits and the Arcane Dimensions mod for Quake and a number of source ports, there were changes made to the ports to allow it to run.

Would it be worth reaching out to the people that work on HoT? I don't know how active it is?

I'm really liking this one. The Quake/Quake 2 engines had a reputation for struggling with outdoor areas, getting a strong Unreal type feeling looking at this - the engines can do it, just takes good mappers.

How odd... I was just trying out settings now. Set it to R4 renderer and the "high" option setting and it worked. I disabled the DX 10.1 toggle and it is still working.

I'll try the shadow settings to see if I can recreate the issue at this end, at least that way we'll have two confirmed examples that can be used to track down the problem.

I haven't found a fix yet. I was going to try going through the settings to see if I could narrow down what was causing the issue.

Reinstalling hasn't made a difference at my end, I tried that yesterday.

If you get a chance, see if you can narrow down what graphics setting causes the problem at your end. I'll do the same here and maybe we might be able to get enough information to send on to find a fix?

Are you getting that when you start a new game? Menus display fine, start a new game and load into the map, the inventory menu can be opened, but everything else is a pitch black screen which flashes white occasionally, sound plays, you can move around, but nothing can be seen?

I've only been able to get the game to run with visuals on the most basic renderer - which is a bit odd when I can use the more advanced renderers in the standard AREA release.
