25 years old and mainly an RTS player. I'm a massive Star Wars fan, love the old classics, KOTOR, Jedi Academy and all that. Most played game is by far Empire At War. Had it since the day it came out. Now Im not a modder. I dont know how to make models, textures and things like that. But due to just how much time i've spent on Wookieepedia and reading source material over the years I have a keen eye for unit balancing. I do A LOT of editing XML files in mods like Republic at War and the Empire at War Remake to suit my own vision. If anyone is in need of advice on EAW, FOC or their associated mods full stop please dont hesitate to message me, if any modders need someone to focus on XMLs whilst they do other stuff im always happy to help. UPDATE OCT '19 - I have recently started playing STO again so have taken a big backseat with my modding stuff.

It should be a pretty easy thing to type out yourself if you know the path. That isnt an issue with the mod.

Ive played this mod for years, since its inception in fact. I have just returned to Halo Wars after a couple of years and it needs to be said that this latest version of the mod is seriously unbalanced.

I am primarily a UNSC player, Cutter usually, I like to set up an AI match and kill a few hours turtling it out til im bored and decide to attack. That is NOT an option with this mod anymore.

Reason being 1 Cov unit. Locusts. I dont know what's changed but the overcharge is noticeably doing more damage than a Scarab beam, so when they build 5/6 of them its game over. You will not stop them. They will absolutely destroy Scorpions outranging them massively, infantry get clowned on and dont even start with main air. You will gradually lose everything. Only the Cobra's en mass will work, but then you are stuck with all the Cobras.

Its actually really infuriating. A game I managed to get the automatic difficulty up to 60+ on and now Ive lost so many matches it just hit 35. Im incensed tbh, I realise its down to pop cap but there needs to be limits on more units, this is actually ridiculous. If anybody is still working on the mod, you need to address balancing around the pop cap, there is no hope if there are more than 6 or 7 at a time.

A question around Scarab armour, I believe i used to remember taking a Scarab down with a full upgraded MAC? Now with all the shots you'll reduce it to half, but you can kill a fully built Cov base with it straight up.....Sorry, I realise there must be balancing but this is a shipborne MAC cannon... built to do damage to other vessels not a lil Scarab on the surface, if the MAC is used it should be able to kill it outright, not just damage it.

Also NOT a fan of when the armour upgrades are bought for the Spartan IIIs that the jet pack Spartans are permanently flying, it'd rather it was used like the jump pack brute ability, I would use the dual SMGs/AR over the Grenade one but the fact they fly just puts me off them.

What about for people not using steam. Annoyingly I have had it working in the past but this latest version i cant seem to get to work around. I havent used Steam for big mods in years as i find it makes many unstable. Worked excellently on my disk version so any pointers to help me remember how would be lully.

Currently stuck as its struggling to find the "kingdoms.exe" which i dont know what that is?

***EDIT*** Okay so now i realised I need to rename one of exes to Kingdoms but its still wont launch.

Oh what I didnt say is ground combat is amazing. I used to love taking planets properly. First a space invasion followed by a massive assault. And I still think vanilla ground combat is better than most mods ground combat. However this isnt the case here. Ground combat is as fun and immersive as space combat. The unit variation and abilities are great.

So again one of the reasons i rate this as the best mod for EAWFOC now is because it is a true total overhaul. Much like Rise of the Mandalorians was back in 2008. I played that for years and used to message with the creator at the time. I said pretty much the same then, RotM was incredible in the way it just added and changed little things to make a massive difference to ground combat and GC whilst making the space combat look and feel more epic too! I think its being redone now by new people or something... anyway, dont think i've enjoyed a mod as much as that until now.

So i have been playing Jeronimos Remake mod for ages, thought i try some of the ones i've seen on Eckstoo when he's been streaming and saw this. Safe to say I havent enjoyed Empire at War GC in a long long time. Unfortunately as good as the Remake mod is, GC has an issue where it freezes at tech 5, so you cant even play a long game really.

Anyway i just wanted to say the way that everything works to me is perfect. Its finally the game it should be. With the little advantages and bonuses. The shipyard aspect and so on it really is mental good.

Only a couple of things I myself would (and might) change: -

1. Firstly is the hardpoints on the ISD and ISD2. Personally I would change some of the weapons on the ISD 1 to laser cannons and the ISD2 appears to be missing its rear most turbolaser batteries and only has the 2 ion cannons? Surely it should be the 2 dual Ion cannons on the ISD1 (rear turrets) then a mix of turbolasers and laser cannons along the rest of the ship. Then the ISD2 should be the 8 octuple barbette turrets, and a mix of ion cannons and turbolasers with the rest of the ship. However that really is minor and as i said i'll probs edit this myself :)

2. My second point is the availability of ships in GC. Unfortunately the starting points of my 2 planet start on GC were miles apart. So when Palpatine gave me the mission for the Eidolon Cruiser i couldnt get it and he has since stopped giving me missions, does this mean i've lost out of certain ships now? I also felt that the Empire keeping the Dreadnought mark 1, without availability of the dreadnought mk2 to replace it was an oversight. Especially since you have done away with Imperial Venators (cant build just get them rewarded), surely they would keep the Venator over the Dreadnought MK1, and even if not at least make the MK2 available to build at Cruiser shipyards or something idk?

Again just very small thoughts ive had during an overwhelmingly positive time playing it. I would say this is the best thought out and developed mod for EAW now.

Just a quick one, im using it through steam atm, does steam still have a lot of issues running the mod? Only reason i ask is that on both of my computers (got a laptop and desktop) the GC is freezing up. Like it worked fine for almost 200 odd days of GC then just freezes. I tried saving a reloading but it freezes at the same point now just seconds after loading.

Really gutted as id just built my 4th Executor, had the DS, Eclipse and all of the battlecruisers with the Rebels and Underworld literally controlling the perfect amount of the map for it to feel right! (E65%, R25%, U10%)

Wondered if this is just a steam issue or is it a mod issue at late game. I have managed to conquer the galaxy as the Underworld just dont get the opportunity with the Empire or Rebels.

Question for anyone who can answer it! I have been playing BFME 1/2 since they came out respectively. However no matter what mods i use, or what version im playing Mordor and Isengard NEVER build siege towers or ladders. Any reason for this and is there a way to make them build them? Also a limit on catapults, trebuchets & ballistas would be good i think. I played against 2 brutal armies yesterday and literally got spammed with catapults and ballistas and it just made defending my gate boring tbh. I never have to fight on the walls, they just seem to go for the gate and then i just hold there.

SUPER LOOKING FORWARD TO THE SIEGE MAPS, THIS IS NEEDS TO HURRY THE F UP :D

This is understandable! I mod EAW FOC a lot and get these game breaking bugs that you just cant figure out where its gone wrong so have to roll back. I read through all the changes you posted on the forum and I am really looking forward to 4.5 especially with regards to castle defence! For now we wait patiently and hope to hear more soon!

I've loved this mod from the first time I found it. Taking BFME2 back to the original concept with castles and that. Love the factions and am really looking forward to Lothlorien's new spellbook! When's it gonna drop though :(

Ahh no dont worry it was just the launcher taking it sweet *** time, taken like half hour to work out if it needed an update but is updating now! STOKED! Missed playing this, lost it 2 years ago when my harddrive blew :(

**I've added flak cannons on my Kandosii and now they're sick. One thing I may say about them on a Recusant is the range at something like 2300, it seems a lot more realistic and fair to have the range of anti fighter cannons (laser or flak) to have a closer range. I changed them to 800 on the Recusant and 1000 on my Kandosii. Also by reducing the range bombers can fire their torps from you can balance it out. I find having torpedo's coming in out of seemly nowhere (usually coz the bombers are dogfighting nearby or something) was a bit odd so yea again, reduced the range of bombers torp launchers

I don't have an issue with how effective the Recusant is at all. You just gotta play more tactically rather than throwing everything at it. Use a couple of star destroyers of any kind and hit the front most flak battery only and you'll take out the entire ship in no time. Also putting build limits on those sorta ships helps so they don't send like 20 of them. I added build limits to every unit in my mod now because it makes the AI plan their fleets out a bit more balanced.

The other option is editing the rate of fire on the hardpoint file which is easy as pie :)

I was running it on steam and got fed up of the crashing so swapped to my disks, I got the original releases (got them day raw and foc dropped respectively). I made sure everything was uninstalled from my steam version coz it wouldn't install when it was there. Haven't had an issue since, until my big comment I just posted :( just lost 302 days of GC with a strange old issue :(
