Hey Wesp5, do you recall what it was about the number or order of disciplines that would cause some in the clandoc file to not show up in game? I know you helped me figure it out before, but I can't seem to find the thread on moddb. I can find my posts via the member posts lists, but they don't link into the mod thread at the post location (they just take you to the overall mod thread) and I've combed through most of it only to not be able to find it.

I have one clandoc000.txt where I've altered the Brujah to have 6 disciplines and it worked fine. I have another where I made a test clan that I have called Salubri and put 5 disciplines in for them, yet only 4 show up in game. I've tried shuffling the order of the disciplines but it hasn't yet worked (haven't tested every possible order).

Sadly I accidentally reformatted my old "messing about with games" drive (I had 2 identical drives and Windows really doesn't give you any clear indication of which is which when you are in the command line tools).

I'll probably pass on that then, unless I get particularly focused someday.

Thanks.

Hey Wesp5, why is this version not on patches-scrolls?
Also, does this version have the turnstile active or not?

Will it work for 1.4007 without extended pack?

Totally disabled headbob is weird, like you're flying through the game. Being able to adjust it is better, so it still feels like you're actually a person moving around in the game but without getting seasick from the extreme degree of it, especially on large or particularly wide screens.

If something did an instant 360 degree turn, how would you know?

360 degrees means you're facing the exact same direction.

GlassDeviant - - 78 comments @ no headbobb (v.1.4005 DC + Extended Pack 1.3)

I would suggest that you set a minimal head bob amount to keep it from looking like you are gliding along in a low flying drone rather than walking. SLA has extremely overdone head bob, but it loses a bit of realism when you completely eliminate it.

After a lot of testing, I settled on these settings, though I might make them even lower later:

[bobbing_effector]
run_amplitude = 0.003
walk_amplitude = 0.003
limp_amplitude = 0.010

I recommend you try higher or lower settings to find what works best for you as everyone is different. X_Ray recognizes up to 4 digits after the decimal but most people won't notice much difference beyond 2 or 3.

Note: You must completely exit the game, make your changes in effectors.ltx, copy your edited effectors.ltx to the other folder (config\misc or config\lost_alpha, depending which one you edited), and restart the game for changes to take effect. It will not work if you don't have the file in both folders. I don't know why, ask Dezowave.

As always, use a little sense when you are changing things, and make sure you understand how the config files work and in what order they are loaded.

Thanks. Going to get back to seeing how many ways I can break it, then figure out why it broke, so I can make my ideal clan.

You were never meant to be able to feed on anyone in the clubs, except for the blood dolls. In fact I can remember trying to do so and not being able to. Is this a feature from Antitribu?

Also, did you remap your keys? Because it's normally F8 to halt all disciplines, not F4.

The 35 minute timer thing couldn't be a source engine limitation, since the whole idea of a "buff" or "debuff" is not something inherent in the engine, it's entirely a creation of the specific game implementation.

It's meant to be that way, even in unmodded vanilla game. You can't enter apartment 6 until you've gotten Hannahs door code from Pauls answering machine and entered it on the door keypad, meaning you have to take the elevator to get to it.

You actually have to go back to a save from before you first entered the Skyeline Apartments, in my experience. Once you've been in there once, the corrupted assets are a permanent fixture of your save.

Now that's really strange, because am sure I told her in that 10.0rc3 playthrough to stay inside and she was in the Hollowbrook anyway. I may have to run through it again...in a bit, after I've played some other game for a little while. I can only replay Bloodlines a few times before I have to take a break.

Strange, because I spoke to Jack, Skelter, Damsel and Nines after every mission.

Thanks for the info about the Havens.

I am pretty sure the order of the clans in clandoc000.txt affects things, because I created a testing clan called Sixth (as in 6th gen) and inserted it before the Tremere clan, and everyone treated me as a Tremere, despite having changed every entry in the new clan to Sixth, plus I got the Tremere haven. The tutorial wanted me to use Tremere disciplies, Strauss invited me to become an initiate, and so on.

Oh yeah, c) was clan penalties like stat limits and frenzy chance modifiers.

Good karma+1 vote
GlassDeviant
GlassDeviant - - 78 comments @ Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Unofficial Patch

So...as I understand it, it's either this line:

"ClanEffect" "Clan (Tremere)"

in the clandoc000.txt file that determines

a) What Haven you get
b) What Disciplines you are required to use in the tutorial
c) Something else I wanted to include but forgot what it was

but does not affect reactions, as that is set up in a lower section.

OR

Are some things determined purely by the order of ClanData sections in the clandoc000.txt file?

I suppose I could devise some experiments to test this, but any insight would be appreciated.

Edit: The goal is to have a clan that can use the Tremere Haven, for convenience (because the other two are either a pain in the *** or a long trip), with a custom clan, hopefully eventually also finding a way to alter the tutorial if it is at all possible. (or beat my head against a brick wall for a couple of weeks before giving up in frustration and swearing I will never play VtMB again...and then doing it anyway within a year :P)

Video is about 10MB and really bad, but I have it if you want it. No audio as my CamStudio doesn't seem to be able to capture it with most games.

Ok, after Fu Syndicate and before Giovanni, I go to the Last Round and talk to Jack.

Jack Says, "Hey kid, where ya been?"

My dialogue options are:

1 I just went to check out the Elizabeth Dane
2 Oh...around

Selecting 1 gets a reply of:

"Oh yeah? Running a little fact finding mission for LaCroix were ya?"

Responses:

1 Unfortunately
2 Yeah

and so on, all stuff I figured would have been a part of an earlier conversation, since I've talked to Jack several times since returning from the Elizabeth Dane. Strangely, I have had conversations with other npcs where I was able to talk about the information Jack gives at this point, as if he'd already told me these details. If I hadn't played the game dozens of times before I wouldn't have had any idea why my character knew this stuff, since iirc nobody else really tells the player these details.

I could try to video capture the whole thing, with subtitles, if I can get Cam Studio to record from VtMB.

P.S.: Got Damsel sorted out once I finished at Giovanni.

I don't remember what the version was, but maybe it broke or something? I was able to take out the Sabbat and save Heather, though it didn't really change anything about the storyline as she just stood there unresponsive afterwards.

So the only way for Heather to live is to send her away before you get the chance for the 5th armour?

Not impressed with the latest version of Hallowbrook. At least you used to be able to save Heather if you were quick enough...and wanted to.

It's tied into the Elizabeth Dane, basically your only choice other than ending conversation is to talk about Elizabeth Dane as if I had just finished that quest, when is several quests already past.

Oh, and I have as yet been unable to pass on any information to Damsel about anything since agreeing to be an informant on Lacroix for the Anarchs. Even the aforementioned chat with Jack didn't unlock her dialogue options.

Found something a little bigger this time. I am about to go to Giovanni Mansion, having just finished at the Fu Syndicate. I have talked with Jack many times along the way, but just now he went straight into a no-choices/mandatory spiel about the Ankaren Sarcophagus. This is after I've already talked to him about it, although his dialogue/information is slightly different this time.
