It is a full conversion mod, there's no mod files merging with the original files, so you don't need to backup it. The mod has its own folders. Try using Modloader: Indiedb.com

Important Bug Fix note!
I'm uploading an updated version of the game, so it won't crash!
In the meantine, to run the game go through "Custom Stories" in the main menu, then go to the custom_stories/MFTP/maps directory and delete all the .map_cache files. It should work! Don't worry, I'm uploading a working version.
