Dawn Of The Third Age Download

I have uploaded the Dawn Of The Third Age Dungeon Siege 2 Map.

Like many players of Dungeon Siege 2 and Broken World, I wanted to continue with the next chapter. This map is one take on what happens next.

DAWN OF THE THIRD AGE
A Dungeon Siege 2 Map
Intended for level 50+

PREMISE

Seven years after the fall of Valdis and the Cinbri, Our Heroes band together once again. While the great darkness has been lifted and life returns to the world, some old enemies remain. The Morden, Vai'kesh, Taclak, and Haku are still up to no good. Dark Wizards are engaged in nefarious undertakings. Bandits roam the land, and while the flora and fauna is flourishing, some denizons of the new age are proving to be very dangerous for travellers. Northern Celts are invading the newly awakened land.
There is still a need for Heroes, to prevent the Third Age from turning into another dark age.

The Map
This is a large open map. Your characters can walk everywhere right from the start. All teleporters are accessible from the start. There are settlements and other locations to discover. It has an unfettered camera view. There are 15 primary quests, and one secondary.
It's been a long journey. This map was started in 2007, it is now 2017.

For NVIDIA Graphics card users

garthagain Blog

When I installed Dungeon Siege2 on my new Windows 10 machine, with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 graphics card, I found that the Nvdia Control Panel (where you set Anistropic filtering, etc.) did not work properly. It did a great job with the characters and objects, but did not recognize the terain (nodes). It looked God awful. I did some research and found the Nvidia Profile Inspector.
I used this to set the graphics for the DS games got the best possible with them. It has many complex and obscure settings not available on the control panel, and also a long list of games and their optimal settings. The Nvidia Profile Inspector may be what you need for your older games, or to go beyond the settings available on the Nvidia control panel.

Run out of space on drive C for your games? .... The Solution

garthagain Blog

Have you run out of room on drive C for your games? Is your life in need of saving?
What you need is a program called " Link Shell Extension". It's super easy to use, and with it you can move anything ( that can be moved) from anywhere to anywhere, and it will still be found by whatever is looking for it. It does this by creating a 'Symbolic Link" in the place you moved the file from. The link itself has no size, and is only a glorified shortcut.
I moved all my games and most other programs to drive E some time ago and it works seamlessly, I've never had a problem.
NOTE; In some of the links given below the directions given make it sound more complicated than it really is. On the download page scroll down the directions page until you come to " SymbolicLink with
Vista and Windows7/8/10 ", this is the one I used, not the "Junction" or anything else.

How I did it;
1. Copy and paste the folder you moving to where you want it.( eg. "Bethesda Softworks/Fallout 3" from drive C to Programs (or whatever) drive E.
2. Remove "Bethesda Softworks" completely from drive C folder.
3. Right click on the new drive E "Bethesda Softworks" folder and select "Select Link Source".
4. Go back to where "Bethesda Softworks"
' was located in drive C, in this example; C:\Program Files (x86). Right click inside this folder and and go to "Drop As" ....left click "Symbolic Link". and you are done.

You should now have a link with a blue shortcut arrow and the same name as the moved folder. Try a test on a small folder with files before doing anything significant to make sure you are doing it right. As always do a backup in case something is not right.(Don't rename the folder, or you are in trouble).

How to make the Hud disappear in Dungeon Siege 1 and 2

garthagain Blog 1 comment

To do this you have to use the Mod Exec. It doesn't work with the regular Exec.
1. Open the console with the tilde key.
2. Type in " bool gui "
3. Press enter
4. Exit the console.

There are things you need the Hud for; Talking to NPCS, Teleporting, Inventories, Etc. But as you can see from the Video, this console command is well worth using.

NOTE: In the video I type in the console command a second time, to restore the hud. This is not necessary. With the console open, the up key will bring the command up again.

For more info on console commands get the " Release Executable Readme File.zip " posted by Ulyss on the Siege the Day Website.

Dawn of the Third Age is a Dungeon Siege 2 map which picks up where Broken World left off. It has many unique features and I'm hoping to have it uploaded by July 2017.
