No all you need is original Doom 3 patched to 1.3.1 and you can play any of the releases of the mod.
Downloading a earlier version would be just for fun, all you need is the latest version :)

In levels like e1m4b and e1m8b which push the idtech4 engine in places , the drops experienced there most likely can't be addressed without updating the old opengl2 api. Which i'd love someone to do for the idtech 4 engine. emmmm Vulkan.

The rest of the guys have long since disappeared :( Honestly not sure what they're up too But can't really blame them Jonny and Brent they where both coders and from what i've heard and experienced for myself idTech4 isn't really compatible these days and therefore isn't exactly easy to work with.
I don't really know what happened to Brent and Jonny But I imagine Brent felt he found something else more important to work on probably something that will earn him money to survive and didn't want to share with me that he's leaving, He's been silent honestly for the past couple of years around 1.2 He popped in from time to time on our private channel so to speak.
Jonny went silent not long after Brent went completely silent.
We didn't part on any harsh terms and I don't hold any resentment or anger towards either of them, there was never any internal problems between any of us.
I'm pretty sure they both backed out of the project because of the amount of work they know they'd have to do to the game files and game engine to complete it in the way they'd imagine everyone would want to see it, They weren't being paid for they're work, they weren't receiving any fan donations to make it worth their time and They need to live a life.
And they are both already employed else where working close to if not full time hours. So they didn't really have much spare time to begin with.
Me personally I'm focusing on my studies at the moment to get a new job, The project mainly needs mappers so if you want to create levels let me know either in the comments or in a pm to me here.
But at the moment i'm not currently working on any new updates, but as soon as I get settled into a new job I will be continuing where i've left off, If there was any new mappers willing to work on the project it'll continue sooner. :)
Thanks for the message, But no the project isn't really dead... But no one is really working on it, Just know it's a project by the people for the people, If someone is willing to work on it, It's in development. :)
Honestly can't say i'm busy with my studies while I seek a new job.
If there is other mappers out there willing to help out then they'll be able to push the project into high gear.
The project mainly needs mappers to finish it, But coders, modellers, texture artist etc would be welcome :)

Heya no, custom resolution isn't disabling parallax mapping, "image_usecompression 1" is by default you need to set it too 0 "image_usecompression 0" I also have a tutorial for enabling it on ModDB as well :)

I have a guide here how to tweak your resoluion settings and aspect ratio but by default Doom Reborn will launch in 16:9 1366x768
the game can be set to "4:3" "16:9" "16:10"
Not really sure how i'd do a patch though. I can't code the menu myself and Jonny and Brent are gone so only me these days :(

You can somewhat hide the hud but not in the same way as the original, you can hide the background of the hud or turn it off all together.
In the future I hope the project will be online playable with deathmatch and co-op, But currently there is no active members working on the project and hasn't been for quite sometime :(
You could consider me the only active member, but currently even I am focusing on studies for a new job, There will be at the very least a new build for Doom's birthday December 10th but for that version there'll probably just be a new map and a couple of extra easter eggs in the levels that still need at least 1.
Once I get a new job then I can devote my free time again to mapping\other project work.
So wish me luck with my studies and getting a new job. :)

Heya sorry for the late reply, The music is awesome but as I stated in the last message I won't be using anyone's music without there permission and not every doom fan wants to just openly share there stuff. If I can get permission from this person then i'd be more than happy to share there work in this project :)

Well I can't do anything music related myself and I wouldn't pinch someone else's music. koitsu7 did create a couple of tunes for 1.6 which I used but has since went silent around last September.
But as of right now i'm basicly the only active member recently I did hear from reinchard for the first time in almost a year, He's been working on some really awesome modular design assets which wouldn't really work in idtech4 in a conventional manner, You could make them work but it'd be slower to build a level that way in idtech4 than it would
be in a engine built for that kind of design :(

Well it's not needed but it's a very nice graphical effect that your computer would seem capable of running quite well, Reinchard first shared some nice improved texture around the time I was working on Pre Beta version 1.4 when making his textures he generated a height map for some of his textures which is used for a parallax effect creating depth on a 2d surface for Pre beta version 1.5,
I included the Wulfen Texture pack shader which enabled parallax mapping for Pre Beta Version 1.5 and I modified some of reinchard's textures to use some of his height maps in alpha channels on some of his other textures that they would've been suited for along with some of the other jdoom textures as well. For 1.6 I heavily adjusted the textures by removing old unused and duplicated textures that had be laying around since 2006/07 then adjusted over sized textures for small areas and created multiple add layers for constant lit textures, While doing all these changes to free up memory and loading in real time, I created various other height maps using photoshop for textures for 1.6, The height maps I made are not done correctly like reinchards which are generated off 3d models probably in substance painter.
Anyway the choice is up to yourself there's a guide on ModDB here and in the read me on how to enable it.

Sorry I forgot to say as well, That the music was done my Neurological for Doom Reborn back in 2005-06 when he first started working on the project, his final work for the project was last seen in 0.80 when we all originally left the project due to life which is a bit of a ballocks, but we all have to put up with it. I released one of his final pieces he luckily sent back in the day E2M4-Scorn it was a sample and not fully finished but I had to get it out there because it deserved to be heard, He probably had other tracks in development back in the day but that was the only one I was sent besides for a few other awesome tracks that he worked on which some of them can be found on his and Cristiano Salvati site Neurolabs.
When I was picking up the project again I attempted to contact everyone again on old email addresses Neurological, I asked Nicola if he'd be willing to pick up where he left off and if he had any of the original source files available as well so we could use a even higher quality file for in game if possible and to release the audio for the fans as a soundtrack download but all was lost to history unfortunately. Unless they are found on a old computer or back up cd or drive somewhere. Fingers crossed, Maybe time would free up for him and he decides to join again :D
That's alright it's meant to be played as fast as possible.
I'll have a look at your bug fixes, The health vials and stats screen should've been working unless your using the saves patch
and if using the saves patch along with dafama2k7's mod of the mod you'll have the issues I had in my video on the moddb page which i've listed.
But yeah do as many video's as you like it's actually up to you :)

heya I just noticed the first one on youtube, I scrolled down to check for new comments and just noticed this now, I only saw the first now i'll need to check the next too :D
I've never had that problem with the weapon selection before, Could you check the key bindings in the options menu for me, They should've been setup correctly besides for the double barrel shotgun and chainsaw which aren't switchable like the original for "1" and "3"
The saves patch does allow quick saving but Jonny hasn't been able to redo Brents old could for carrying weapons over etc :(
heya i'm glad to hear you've got it running nicely now, The reason your starting with only the pistol is because your using the saves patch. If you copy the non saves patch over you'll carry weapons over and the stats screen should work as normal as well. :)

Well the only thing you need to run this is a copy of the original doom 3, not the more recently released doom 3 bfg edition. The mod isn't supported for that version unfortunately :(

It sounds like your aspectratio isn't set correctly in game for your display.
You'll need to open the command line console if you need help doing that your best looking at the tutorial I did here on ModDB Moddb.com
it's all pretty easy really :)
