My name, as one might guess is Kriss and at the moment I am 17 years old. Quite passionate for all things visual, and if digital - even more! Been using Blender for 2 years now, learning something new every two days. I'm also into poster design (via Inkscape and Photoshop) and a bit of street-art (via posters) as well.. :P Don't be a stranger..

All those details in the sketch make my brain explode! Making it is a trouble, getting all materials assigned and making UV maps for each group alone makes it difficult to think of final result. Worst of all it`s crashed, probably split in two which means parts hanging like pipes and stuff.
Good luck!

Dupliverts should have worked in this instance. Just always have to make sure the object you're duplicating is set correctly on it's object origin and that all rotational forces are nulled, and when using dupliverts you can set the instances to match rotation. Either way, this has come out good. My suggestion? Up the poly count and make this single mine the focus of your comp piece. Make it as interesting as possible as a de-active mine with wild life and such all around it. But that's just what I see in my head.

Description

So a new competition on Blenderguru has started! This time the theme is "Underwater" so i am working quite hard on this one (i was a bit lazy on the previous one "Slums scene" so it wasnt as good as i wanted it to be) Anyways heres a samll wip from my first day of modeling! Had to figure out how to put up the pins nicely, because dupliverts didnt work out too well, so i just did it manualy, by copying them, and it turned out nicely! No need to worry about the lack of detail, because these mines will be far away in water, so it will be quite dark..
